We went to this place for a little bite before the theatre which is just down the road. It was ‘happy hour’, which I gather is something that rarely ends. We got a pint of Madri for £3.20 each!!! For food, we chose the 5 small plates for £21-odd, which was great. There were plenty of options for vegetarians, and the food came quickly and was very filling. Great little boozer-type pub
Guinness Dirty Fries were really good. Cider selections were a bit limited, but the bartender was very nice. Worth going to!!Food: 5/5
Got in there just after it opened up, and the real ale lines were being cleaned. Staff told me that there would be a wait until that was finished, and then brought beer to my table when it was ready. This is worth mentioning as some pubs try it on and view the customer as a punter who probably won't notice bad beer. The Railway treats you as you should be treated, hence the 5 star rating. Didn't have food there so can't comment. Options looked good though.
Me and hubby have been coming to The Railway for years. Both had fish and chips today with mushy peas, the best fish and chips we have tasted anywhere for a long time. Staff very friendly, the barmaid advised there was a special offer on certain drinks which saved us money. The meals were on a great deal, 2:1, a bargain! Will definitely be back!
Second time visiting and amazing yet again. Thank you to all the lovely staff especially Natalie the chef - the food was so good. Antonia and George on the bar who had the best service. Great atmosphere and I will be coming back again when I am in the city. Thank you guysFood: 5/5
This was a fantastic pub to go drinking at, with a stylish, classic design! I appreciated how plenty of decorations are themed around trains, the entrance is suitable and the bar is well-presented. The staff were friendly and I had a sweet strawberry cocktail at a reasonable price, situated at a clean table on curved leather seating!
Pre booked a table for 7 people, turned up to be told ‘just find a table, none have reserved on’! Ordered food & drinks, 7 meals came out as and when they were ready, not all together, waited about 40 mins for first meal. Food was ok. Wasn’t asked if everything was ok, to be honest, hardly saw any staff while we was there. Could do with speeding up the food service and getting all meals out at the same time.
Called in after a long train journey on the off chance. Can’t recommend the railway enough! Food was excellent and we received outstanding service from the manager Caroline. She was extremely friendly and knowledgeable of the area. We had a great laugh and will return if in the area again!Food: 5/5
Old style but love this place, not have big noisy and more peaceful. Good price drop from Monday to Friday. Enjoy the moment come after workFood: 5/5
Proper pub! I find it amusing they sell BrewDog Punk IPA cheaper directly across from BrewDog's own pub, barmaid told me it's on discount during the week under £4 making it absolutely trump BrewDog's own pricing. Didn't have a BrewDog though, had a Guinness and that was rather nice. £5.30, steep but not too bad considering it's right next to the The Railway station apt name, huh?.
