Story

Whether you’re looking for a long, lazy lunch with family, or a spontaneous mid-week treat with friends, we’ve got you covered. Our beautiful pub and restaurant combines the cosy, rustic features of the countryside with delicious, contemporary food and drink.

Our menus change seasonally to offer you the very best, fresh ingredients. And when it comes to refreshment, our fridges are fully stocked with plenty to choose from, including countryside ciders, cask ales, prosecco and carefully selected wines.

Dating back to 1822, The Priory has served food and drink all its life, starting out as a Hotel. More recently, underground passages were found beneath the building which link it to Portbury Monastery. This suggests monks may have used these tunnels to hide during times of persecution.

After a bite to eat with us, why not make a day of it and discover what’s beyond our walls, including the sea of bluebells in Prior’s Wood and nearby Windmill Hill.

As part of the Vintage Inns family, we’re proud of our heritage and welcoming service which ensures you’ll always receive the Vintage treatment. So, sit back and relax while we take care of the rest. The countryside is calling.

Visited yesterday. Food lovely, although they’d ran out of a lot of stuff. Staff friendly but cleaning of the facilities leaves a lot to be desired. Ladies loo needs a good clean as do all of the toilet doors. I appreciate it sounds picky but these things are important. Gravy or similar also splashed up wooden panelling. Not a recent accident either by the look of it☹️

Went here for Easter Sunday, had a delicious roast (lamb shank and beef sirloin), the veg was lovely, carrots and parsnips especially so. Would definitely recommend the dessert platter. Very friendly and helpful staff with quick service.

I don't usually order a roast when eating out on a Sunday but I made an exception and was rewarded for my decision. I ordered Roast Sirloin with the Short Rib and it was absolutely lovely, very filling with a good selection of veg. We asked for lots of extra gravy and the staff were happy to oblige. The building itself is a charming historic coaching Inn located in a quiet street in the middle of a little village just off the M5 Gordano Services. Well worth the journey out of central Bristol. Would highly recommend.

Thought we would go for a Sunday roast. We had a warm welcome and shown to our seat. The barman was chatting for a while before we got served. We ordered our food which came out reasonably quickly. When the food came out very disappointed with the lamb shank very little meat the potatoes where burnt and so was some of the vegetables. This was a shame as the rest of the food was nice. Will not return to this venue again.
