Clean and tidy pub with plenty of parking, but, very, very quiet for customers. Good choice of drinks, food menu has a good selection to chose from with reasonable prices and was value for money. Friendly staff member when he took the order, but, only down side is he spent the whole time we was there on his mobile, did not check how the meal was and tried to thank him as leaving, but, he was too busy on his phone to notice.
Friendly local pub. Oldish scene. Clean and well presented. Does serve food but you need to check there serving as don't always. Has a pub quiz. Polite staff and friendly
I popped in on a dog walk, nice and cozy, a lovely pint.
We have been to many good pubs which are under Marstons, used to be our place of choice where we used to live, this just isn't one of them. We went on a Saturday around 5pm and went to sit with our dog in the restaurant area at the back. We were told this area was not dog friendly and to go to the bar area under previous management, the whole of the pub was dog friendly. The restaurant is also big enough to have 1/2 dog friendly in the restaurant as I understand not everyone likes dogs, it also has more wooden floor compared to the bar area? I personally don't get it, but not up to me. This would be fine, except all but one of the tables in the bar had dogs and the restaurant area was completely empty. People were cramped on tables and the area was so loud I couldn't hear my partner who was sat next to me, we ordered food pretty quickly we'd been on a long walk otherwise we would've left. Also, if any other person or party walked in with a dog they would literally have nowhere to sit - with an empty restaurant area this business model seems ridiculous. £3.70 for a Pepsi max that didn't even taste like it - alcohol was cheaper. Not friendly for people who don't drink alcohol at all. The food arrived luke-warm and the portions abysmal. An extra £4.50 to add veg chilli to nachos and I kid you not there could not have been more than a tablespoon if that of chilli on the already small portion old management were incredibly generous with their portion sizes. The fish and chips were reportedly okay, although tiny amount of chips. We also had to wait quite a while considering we were the only ones in at that time who had ordered food. Much nicer food with good portions and great environment in other pubs in Scarborough and surrounding areas. Oh, and there was a man inside the porch smoking when we arrived so literally had to walk through a cloud of smoke it wasn't even raining or dark. If you want a loud place to drink alcohol then this is probably fine for you. If you want to have a meal, bring your dog, sit in a comfortable area, avoid alcohol, have a nice atmosphere, be able to hear the person next to you, have a hot good sized portion of food or not waste money then avoid, avoid, avoid. So disappointed and will not be returning.
Great experience - nice little pub or so we thought, until found the big restaurant room at the baxk too. Very dog friendly inside - staff brought us out a water bowl and regulars brought over some dog snacks from the bar too. Standard marstons drinks range but the food was way better than previous experiences at a marstons food pub with 'Ultimate Burgers' etc at relatively low prices.
Absolute fabulous pub New landlord/landlady above and beyond wot is required if your staying at nearby holiday spots its a must, great 4 families accomadation if wanted "BB" traditional proper pub big big play area 3 car parks
Update owner now telling lies and still refusing to refund us. We didn't even stay at your shambles of a place we will see who has last laugh believe me all this will cost u more than me Note to owner refund me ill remove review. Kicked me and my partner out after being there half hour. Due to challenging staff about covid regulation me and my partner were forced to leave also accused me of making the room smell like cannabis even though whole top floor smelled of it when we arrived still struggling newly 2 year later to get a refund
Warm friendly service, looked after our dogs by providing water. Only dropped off for a quick drink whilst walking dogs. Situated in a lovely village and supporters of veterans
We stayed here for 1 night in the double rooms and family room. All very clean and comfortable, lovely downstairs seating area too. We had the carvery which was lovely and catered for one of us as gluten free huge choice on the menu for gluten free too. We joined in with the quiz night and card bingo which we all enjoyed. The hosts were really welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. Very friendly atmosphere in the pub. We will definitely be back. Thank you for making us so welcome
Lively pub, with loud music, dog friendly, normally food served put unfortunately not the day we call in.
