Good spacious real ale pub with wooden floors and decor. 5 real ale hand pumps on offer, one of which is will be a dark ale. I've only seen this during a weekday afternoon, it was quiet and friendly. So, I can't review the night life The main bar has moved upstairs 8 years ago so there is limited wheelchair access At least 3 steps to climb. Slightly off the beaten track for Scarborough centre but worth a visit.
Whilst this is not in the centre of town I have 5 star rated the location as to me that is a bonus. It is an easy position to get to from any direction in car or walking. There is loads of space both inside and outside. The drink selection is second to none. If you enjoy Belgium beers, craft cider, real ales then this is def. The place for you. On a Thursday evening they have a house band play popular & folk style music. They have a big pool table with the most amazing ceil decor! The on negative is that there is obviously a drain issue in the toilets beyond their control which by going to the toilet you are entering the eye of the storm. They are always clean to use I must add. Always a pleasant friendly atopmosphere. Live nearby so have not stayed here.
Lovely staff fats and efficient toilets smell good and all facilities work as they should. Only downside is the poolroom needs some remedial work to tidy up bits around the room due to what I imagine is an issue with the roof for the bay window.Rooms: 3/5
It's ok.. I asked for a large wine and got given one of those horrible little bottles. I feel the barmaid should have warned me and said they had no decent wine- I could have ordered something else.
I go in whenever I've been to top up gas & electric, very nice venue, very polite staff, very friendly & a good choice of hand pulled real ales.Service: 5/5
Always feel comfortable here. Pop in for a drink now and again. Always a good selection of real ales. Can sit and read a book if you want to. Cheap sandwiches and hot drinks are now available like the good old days.Service: 5/5
Quality comparable to price. Rooms are on top of the bar so don't expect an early quiet night. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly. On street zoned parking is extra but cheap. 3 of the 6 lights in the room didn't work 7 if you include the ensuite one The room I got had mold in the kettle, a visible hole in the half rotten window and to top it off only one key for the room. FYI one key which opens the side door of the building as well as the room... Yes, one key seems to open all rooms in the entire place. No, I did not sleep well once I realised. But the bedding and towels were crisp and clean and it was cheap! Tbh next time I would pay a little extra for somewhere else quieter and then visit the bar as it has a good atmosphere, good staff, and a pool table.
Only popped in for one drink and ended up staying for 3 hours on a Sunday afternoon. Friendly staff who welcome anyone with a dog so we really recommend it to anyone visiting Scarborough.
Fantastic place to stay in Scarborough. Staff and owners lovely and helpful. Room was excellent value. Will definitely stay again.Rooms: 4/5
