The Plough Inn

About

The Plough Inn pub & restaurant is set in the picturesque village of Lilliesleaf, in the heart of the Scottish Borders. We offer good quality, local produce and friendly service to help you have an enjoyable and relaxing experience.

Story

The Plough has a lovely relaxed atmosphere where you can eat or drink - after a day walking in the hills, a long day at work, or just a relaxing country weekend bolt hole. Our comfortable rustic restaurant is open Wednesday to Sunday for lunch (except Wednesday lunch through Winter) and dinner, and offers attentive table service and eclectic menu. Both bar and dining area have cosy fires in the winter. Children are welcome in the restaurant, and in the bar until 9pm, and the bar is dog friendly!
MENU

Our focus is serving beautiful, fresh, locally sourced food, and we change the menu seasonally to reflect this. This not only allows us to offer you delicious seasonal dishes, but ensures our local suppliers a year round outlet for fresh produce.

We aim to cater for all diets, so please ask one of our friendly staff if you have any dietary needs.

We can also cater for groups up to 18, and we offer a small portion option.

Four of us enjoyed an excellent meal here in recent weeks. The restaurant was busy and we were a little late but John, the waiter, managed the clientele in an admirable manner, mixing humour with appropriate deference. When the food arrived it was very good - and a credit to the chef. We had an excellent evening here and will be returning. Downsides? The meal, though good value for what we received, was not inexpensive and the lack of soft furnishings caused raised noise levels. Recommended.

I had a meal here this evening, an exceptional meal in a warm friendly and uniquely rustic and comfortable setting, log fire, great service and fabulous food. A simple yet creative menu with inspired flavours unlike anything i have encountered in the Borders. Worth a special trip to Lilliesleaf in the Scottish Borders.

Excellent choice of beers and the food looks very nice and at a very reasonable price. Also have Scotlands nicest toilets!
