I wrote a review on Facebook while I was in the pub (yes, it was that bad) but was forced to remove it due to the actions of the charming landlady Fiona. (Yes, that was sarcasm). We had a disagreement with Fiona about a trainee assistance dog. That's by the by. It was her attitude, unwillingness to talk to me, her threats to kick me out and her rigid adherence to "policy" where perhaps a bit of compassion and flexibility was called for. I've run pubs, and would never treat a customer the way she treated us. Having read previous reviews, this seems to be a common thread in her interactions with customers. Apparently she has a habit, also, of harassing those who leave poor reviews. I will say it here. Fiona, if you have a problem with this review please contact me and I am happy to discuss it with you, and maybe give you a few pointers. If you contact the person that made the booking in any way regarding it I will treat it as harassment and report it to the police.

Gatsby night at The Pheasant was brilliant. Not much space to dance, but the entertainment was great; so was the food; and the staff were too. Will definitely be going again.

Too many issues to mention. Apparently "it's policy" is sufficient answer to any complaint. Landlady rude, overbearing and unwilling to take any kind of criticism. Reading customers phones over their shoulder really isn't on! I will never go back, and I suggest anyone who likes a reasonable level of customer service doesn't try here.

Advertised as a family pub, but when i took my daughter in to order food i was told we were breaking the law by my child being near the bar!!! ...  Well im sorry but i dont i dont leave my child unattended outside on her own. Oh and fyi ... im not sure what law your on about but children are allowed in pubs that serve food as long as they are accompanied by an adult and as long as they are not being served alcohol. Nearly walked out at this point but was perswaded to stay. Wont be coming back. This was my first and last time.

Recently, since changing hands, the pheasant has delved into the rankings as one the worst pubs in Bedford in my eyes. I’ve never been in a pub and felt so unwelcome. It’s quite ridiculous and frankly insulting that after being a regular visitor to the old phes for many years they still feel the need to scratch my ID date to check whether it’s fake. I shan’t be returning and will be visiting the Bluebell in Putnoe from now on. Cya Fiona! Xx
