Rooms are insanely small, no windows to open which means you are stuck with AC air, if you stay long enough I guarantee you a sick throat. Location is good and we walked everywhere. Staff is nice and very helpful. Expect a 2 star as it should be and only choose this place if you have no other option. Overall value for money isn't great but reasonable depending on your planning.
The staff at Pembroke Inn are lovely - friendly, welcoming, and happy to help. The hotel itself is wonderfully unique in its layout, as a converted Victorian. The room was spotlessly clean, the mattress was amazingly comfortable, and it was so quiet. We visited in the midst of a heat/humidity wave, so the mini split AC in our room was very much appreciated. We rested very well and enjoyed our stay. We will certainly return to this little hidden gem, especially when we have more time to enjoy the facility and room.
I liked staying there overall. Room was clean and nice. However, the room I was in lacked a luggage rack nowhere to set luggage whatsoeverand the bed was somewhat comfortable but my skin kept itching as I lay on it. Lastly , no free breakfast one even has to pay for the coffee even though it’s available in the kitchen. Paid parking available but space is very tight and only 4 spots. Tbh, I think it should be unpaid parking. Nevertheless, there’s paid parking available in front of the building, offered by the city. On a positive note, free ice is available, there’s a Freezer available in the kitchen to store food and or drinks, there was also a fridge in my room. The place looked like it was renovated recently - definitely seen the modern touch they added. Also, place is in downtown so it’s close to multiple restaurants, the Eaton Centre, etc.
The staff were really friendly and very accommodating. Located on a nice quiet street, and walking distance to a lot of restaurants and transit options. We'd stay again!Rooms: 5/5
Nothing fancy, but the price reflects that in my opinion. Service was great-everyone I came in contact with was nice, friendly and helpful. Room was small, but clean and fairly renovated at least the ones we were in. Bed was comfortable enough for us. AC was a little loud, but not a bad thing entirely in my opinion as it helps block out noise. Found that I could hear others in their rooms through vent in bathroom and of course in the hallway, but nothing bad or unexpected. We had a show at Massy Hall and it was well within walking distance. Coffee in little cafe area was fine; nice courtyard and indoor place to sit. Safety-it’s downtown Toronto-you will see homeless people, you will see people with mental health issues and you will see those who are on drugs, but I didn’t feel unsafe. We would consider staying again for a night if the price was right for sure!
Pleasantly surprised. Clean room, staff very friendly, and grateful was able to snag paid parking. Thank you for the pleasant stay. Will stay again when in area Rooms: Basement room, secluded clean and quiet Walkability: Shops, park, and dining establishments in walking distance. Lovely street
Do not go to this hotel. Some of the furniture looks unclean, the bathroom is CRAMPED. The room may be alright for one person who plans to just sleep there, but very much cramped for multiple people or if you were expecting to spend more time in there. It is located in a strange area and it's overall a no-go.Rooms: 1/5
I found the Pembroke Inn a nice enough place to stay for the price. The Inn is nicely decorated and the lounge area has a microwave and free coffee. The room was very clean and the bed comfortable. Parking is limited and at extra cost – otherwise you pay for street parking if you can find any. The strongest aspect is the courteous service. And when there was a problem with my parking reservation staff helped resolve the issue quickly. The weakest aspect - as others have pointed out - is the “paper thin” walls. Even with earplugs and white noise you can hear everything from the adjacent rooms. If you choose to stay there you won’t be disappointed, but you best be a very sound sleeper. Rooms: Clean but thin walls.
I was travelling across Ontario, and stayed at the Pembroke Inn in Toronto for 4 nights & had a fabulous stay, I already want to go back! I am a single adult & needed to find a place to stay on short notice, and they were super quick and helpful to accommodate me. I opted for one of their smaller rooms, and the bathroom mirror has a cool touch-screen feature, check it out when you’re there! I had such a peaceful time & appreciated their kind, no-pressure service. The building itself is super charming, quaint, and vibrant. I felt like I was staying over at a friends place or something, super homey & comfy vibe. Theres also a really amazing golden, full-length mirror on the left wall as soon as you enter the building which is great for selfies!look around at the art in the coffee lounge too. Its super close to Downtown/Eaton Centre area on foot and I ended up saving a lot on Uber costs which was a bonus. Thank you, Pembroke staff for everything!
Despite previous negative reviews we stayed here for three nights and thought it was great. The location is right in the heart of Toronto and although surrounded by a few sketchy looking characters we never had any trouble or felt unsafe. Rooms are basic but are what you expect for the price. They are clean and free tea and coffee provided. The shower was also great. Walls are a bit thin so bring some earplugs. There are hotels miles out of Toronto that cost far more than this and if you're looking for a no frills , clean and cheap hotel in a great location this is it.
