We always try to visit here at least once when staying near Felixstowe. Lovely atmosphere based on that once found in a country house hotel of yore. Very pleasant, polite & helpful staff and an excellent menu. Always a nice choice of menu without being too wide (which ensures everything is fresh). Properly cooked food nicely served on tables with linen napkins. And, given the stylish and comfortable surroundings, the prices are very reasonable too!. Thoroughly recommended.

Period hotel lots of wood and old fashioned luxury. Feels like you could base an Agatha Christie film there. We had a good meal, well presented and nice and hot. Big function room for 60 or more guests.

Wonderful time spent here with my family. Lovely food and everyone was very attentive and helpful. Would certainly recommend for a family gathering.

The company I work for uses the Orwell as the preferred hotel for HQ staff visiting our operations in Felixstowe. The hotel may be a little dated as some reviewers have noted, (although gradually being updated), but clean. The staff are faultless and very friendly and helpful. The food is outstanding with a good selection available. The rooms are comfortable and generally very quiet. The hotel is close to the high street at the old town end with a short half mile (ish) walk to the promenade and beach. There are other hotels in the town, Premier Inn etc. and this one is favoured by all of our staff by some margin.

A very nice,clean and well presented hotel situated on the edge of the town centre and a short walk from the train station..
