Staff very slow at taking the order, bringing your order and also taking payment. I could of walked out without paying! I had a newborn baby with me and felt as though they put me on a table as far away from the other customers as possible. I am a single parent and felt very excluded, like I don't deserve to go out and enjoy a meal incase....what.....my baby cries? Felt very discriminated against. Such a shame as the food it pretty good. Needs new staff, who have been taught manners and how to serve!

We've visited the pub when it was a Harvester, and it has improved since it was taken over by the current management. The staff are friendly and welcoming, the food is well cooked with massive portions, and the salad bar is far better than any Harvester we have been to (and we have been to lots!) . We walked to Chester along the Canal afterwards - takes about 20 mins, really nice.

Called in The Old Trooper today for lunch, must say how disappointing the meal was. We went up for salad from the self serve salad bar to start off, must say I do love a good old salad,it looked like it had been there a while😕....so I wasn't too impressed. Wen my food arrived at table first impressions were promising! How wrong I was,I had the rotisserie chicken, jp, corn on cob. Cut into the chicken and it was bloody!! Not appetising at all....... wen calling over the waitress, she put on her glasses looked at the chicken and said ,"oh it's just a vein"!!!!😲nothing to worry about!!!!!! I was appalled, as this had really put me off....... she did take my meal back openly again airing her opinion of it ONLY being a vein,"it was ok"...... at that I did say I know my food as I do catering as a living........ she returned with a fresh meal which by this time my hubby had finished his meal!!!!! No apologies!!!!!in fact I felt we had not impressed the staff at all!!!!!! They came across as very dismissive and not really bothered if we had enjoyed our visit or not. Even wen paying nothing said to us,no apologies nothing...... very unprofessional approach. Just came across as just wanting your money, disappointing visit. NEVER would return........

Ate here 4pm ish, wasn't busy but omg no organizations brought our mains when we were still eating our starters! Which left me with dry salmon!. My husband had seabass which wasn't much bigger than a fish finger! Not a happy experience! Wouldn't recommend 👎 Also I've noticed the owner only acknowledges a positive review!!??

Really friendly helpful staff. A bit everything fried pub grub food. Salad bar helps balance the saturated food.
