I called in for an early lunch on my own. My husband was golfing nearby. I'm not used to going in pubs on my own, but I felt very comfortable. The pub had a cosy atmosphere and the staff were very friendly and accommodating.nThe food was excellent.nI'd definitely recommend the Black Bear.
Been to a lot of pubs already and I always love and enjoy the feel and culture inside. I thought I won't be surprised anymore but this one is one of them. Different feel inside with lovely bench seatsand was quite comfortable. A very old building and pub with a fire place inside. Dogs were allowed which is nice. I like the decor inside and wss homey. Atmosphere loved it.nService was topnotch, very friendly and approachable and never pushy.nMain kicker is the food, served really quick, at first I felt it was pricey but when the food came, serving was massive, sandwich was really packed and tasted good. My fish and chips was by far the best I ever had, super crunchy and fluffy in the inside. The chips were really good. I just kept praising it while I was smashing that one. They have their own cask ales and it was really good. Though I live far, I will definitely visit again.nnOnly weird thing though is the parking on the road which is limited to 45minutes, which is everywhere in the place.so I guess you need to eat fast
We had a great time at the black bear, the service was excellent, food was lovely and atmosphere was cosy.nWe would definitely return
Down in Whitchurch for family celebration tomorrow and went to Black Bear for evening meal. What a cracking place this is. Very friendly staff and the food was great. Party of 6 and we all had a different dish and every one of them was lovely. All hot and tasty. Would definitely recommend this place. Well done Black Bear.
Came down to Whitchurch for a night to celebrate my birthday. We were recommend this pub by a local in the hotel we are staying at. I wanted a proper country pub and grub by a fire and that is exactly what I got. Atmosphere was great, staff really warm, friendly and welcoming. The food was lovely! Thanks so much!
