Authentic Thai Street Food in Leeds. "We don't serve fast food, we serve fresh food as fast as we can!"

Story

Tucked away in the heart of the business district – Thai food, cooked fast and fresh. A menu of nearly one hundred dishes, you can
tuck into the likes of Gra Pow Moo Sub (wok fried minced pork with chilli, green beans, bamboo and holy basil) and Choo Chee Salmon (fillet of salmon in curry sauce with carrots, peppers and lime leaves) – or go for old favourites, like Pad Thai and Panang Curry.

The Old Steps Bar in Leeds is a must visit for anyone in and around the business district of Leeds. The food is excellent, well priced and ready in no time.. top that off with friendly service and a pint of beer! Simply Awesome. In addition to the great food throughout the day, The Old Steps Bar on the corner of York Place has one of the best atmospheres you can ask for after work on a Friday afternoon. Check it out, you wont be disappointed!
We were surprised to find a metal door as the entrance to the Bistro and we were slightly taken aback by the fact that lots of people were standing around, drinking. This was to be a special treat so I became a little worried that my friend would be disappointed. Not so. The choice of food was not like that of a pub meal, it was superb. I chose the starter of King Prawns and every mouthful was a delight. I was amazed by the variety in the salad; not what I have come to expect, because of recent experiences elsewhere. I intend to try to emulate this dish at home. The steak was succulent and we did not need to leave a morsel! There was a lovely selection of mixed vegetables, thick chips and the most delicious sauce. My friend had the sticky toffee pudding, which appeared to be home made, and which she thoroughly enjoyed. All credit to the chef who worked at full throttle in a very tiny kitchen. Well done. . [I tried to post this immediately after I got home, as I was so impressed, but my internet took a nose dive]
One of the friendliest restaurant/ bars in Leeds. Food is fantastic, especially the lunchtime specials created by the french chef Raphael. Frequented by vast range of people from all walks of life, but mostly those from the offices in the business district. Definitely worth a visit - you'll be well looked after!
When I walked in to the place, it gave the impression of a dingy bar off the back of a street. But don't let that fool you. The service from the very start was fantastic and very friendly. The food was ordered and presented in double quick time. And the steaks were done to perfection with a side of the most wonderful chips. Highly recommended and will be looking to return in the future
First impression that struck me as I walked in was that it could do with a bit of TLC on the decor and fixtures/fittings. Then, when nipping to the WC I changed my mind... decided it actually needs a lot of TLC. Saying this, the place appeared to be very clean. The staff were very welcoming, pleasant and efficient 10/10. The main meal of steak, chips and veg was tasty enough, but both our steaks came medium to well done and not the medium rare as requested. The dessert of rhubarb crumble was a bit of a disaster. They came well and truly nuked and were too hot to start eating even after 10-15 minutes of waiting for them to cool down. We eventually decided to start gingerly picking away at the edges as they cooled, then my daughter found a long hair baked into her crumble. We decided not to complain as the place is very "intimate" and was full at the time and this wouldn't have been fair on the other diners, as it may have spoiled their enjoyment and the fact that we were using a Groupon voucher, had we payed full price it might have been a different matter! My last criticism is that the tables are way too close together, meaning that when the diners next to you are getting in and out of their tables their behinds are uncomfortably close to your food and your face :o/ I guess this is to be expected though, as it is a small place and the owners are obviously trying to keep the turnover at a reasonable rate. I won't be going back again and would be hard pushed to recommend it to anyone else.
A very unassuming bar that serves incredibly good food. Perfect for a lunchtime break. How the French chef manages to cook so consistently well out of such a tiny kitchen is a mystery, but I'm very glad of it.
Food and service was very good. Starter and main came fast and tasted brilliant, the waitress was very friendly and overall setting was very relaxed and enjoyable. I visited using a Groupon voucher deal, I wouldn't necessarily pay the full prices for the food but with the voucher, overall it was a lovely experience.
Very pleasant atmosphere, my friends and i loved the food and 2 for 1 cocktails!! Will definately be visiting again soon!!
