Used to be good, now absolute shambles. I made some requests through Dr IQ following a back injury, my medication renewal request is still « in process » after 10days, and after I tried to chase on the platform. I had to get a prescription from a private doctor instead and pay for it. I also made a request for letters for my insurance, as I couldn’t go on holidays due to my severe injury. My request was « processed » through Dr IQ saying someone would call me the next week. Guess who is still waiting? The phone queue is always very long, and so is the wait at the practice. The receptionists are really not nice on the phone and seem very fed up when anyone calls, trying to rush and hang up without listening. When I first had my injury and needed a paper for work through Dr IQ cause I couldn’t walk, they just sent me a text for an appointment in 30min at the clinic that I didn’t request, I phoned and was rushed and not been able to explain that I couldn’t go around. Had to get there by taxi which costed me a fortune and the GP was late, trying to rush and avoiding eye contact while I was crying of pain in the chair. It’s such a shame cause the facility is nice, modern and clean but it seems highly understaffed. It used to be good 2 years ago. I will change to a new practice and advice people to look elsewhere in the area if you want to be treated with humanity and be able to get your meds and paper work on time.
I’m so happy with the service I received today. Having had private treatment in the past, I’m more impressed with the NHS and the kindness I have received from staff. Eugin, the Pharmacist at Canberra Old Oak Surgery gave me such a generous amount of time on my initial consultation and went out of his way to help me. I’m really happy to be registered here.
Easy to get a same day appointment when it's urgent. Dr Ahmed was really helpful and took lots of time to go through everything, didn't feel rushed. Dr IQ app isn't perfect but useful in some situations, and can always ring up and speak to reception instead, who are helpful.
Eugen was so thorough, friendly and really helped me regarding my medication. I was so stressed out and he helped solve my problem in minutes and wanted to help as best as he could. Lovely practice, so glad i moved to Canberra Old Oak!
I had my visit with Amparo practice nurse. She was very nice and made me very comfortable. She also gave me good advice on my condition and what to do next.
Eugin and the reception team and nurses Vanessa and Maria are always so attentive and caring. They make sure to get you help as soon as they can and have been so patient and genuinely supportive!
How many bad reviews until they change their system!!?? Firstly I can’t see any way to book an in person appointment on the app. Secondly you have to call between 8 and 9 am for an appointment that day. There is no booking in advance. So god forbid if you need to book time off work in advance. Then after being on hold for a good 30 minutes they say someone will call you back in 1-2 hours to give you the appointment time for the day. I do not understand necessity for this extra step. They really do string you along. Then God forbid you missed that phone call because you happen to be at work or a meeting. The whole process makes NO sense. Absolute madness.
Amparo is a very professional and qualified nurse, I always try to make an appointment with her, because she is a very nice person and one of the best nurses in that clinic Canberra Old Oak Surgery.
No one picks up the phone and you can listen to a recording telling you to book an appointment in the app. But the app tells you to try again at 7 am tomorrow. Receptionists are rude and not helpful. I switched to this GP as it seemed to have an ok rating, but it’s been an awful experience. At some point, an administrative worker cancelled my prescription, because he thought based on my test results I didn't need it anymore. I had to call and explain to him what my test results mean and didn't even hear ‘sorry’ after. Frustrating
Just stay away from this practice. They're lazy, rude, incompetent and struggle massive with English. Their whole system is riddled with bugs and their crappy app never works. Every time I have to request a repeat prescription, they make me jump through the seven rings of hell and it usually takes up to 3 weeks for something that should only take a handful of minutes and 0 effort. I've requested 3 blood tests in probably the last 6 years and every time they screwed up. Their doctors will literally flip their pc screens at you and show you a Google results page.
