We spent a few nights at the Oaksmere with some family and friends while travelling for a wedding. I’ve stayed at my fair share of 5 star hotels. I must say, the staff at the Oaksmere is simple fantastic at another degree! They are genuine family. From the front desk, to Matt! Even the evening keeper, that old chap had tons of stories while I was sipping earl grey in the “gun room” at 3am! The restaurant on-site was also amazing. We had a table of almost 20 people for afternoon tea. It was delicious and again the staff was also phenomenal. The rooms, proper air conditioning, clean, well put together and decorated very well. Each room had its own unique touch. The bathrooms were well equipped with modern fixtures. Hotel interior decor and exterior landscape is magazine level. I don’t care where you’re from, I’d you somehow land in this review, it’s your sign to just book what ever you need to book, just go! Oaksmere staff! Thank you! You’re doing everything right!
We went for a meal on Saturday and were so pleased to see such an improvement in service. In the past, we've experienced really mixed service and lots of timing issues on a number of occasions that lets down what is otherwise a lovely venue. Matthew and his team were attentive, efficient and extremely professional. Really pleased the dining and service experience is now matching up to the surroundings, long may it continue.
Have had afternoon tea and also stayed overnight. The food was of good quality with a 3 course evening meal and the a lovely full English for breakfast. Very spacious room which has great facilities for my disabled wife . Rooms: The room could do with a few maintenance issues .
We had a fantastic meal on the beautiful terrace and felt so well looked after by Emily and colleagues. Service was brilliant and our son loved the pirate ship. All of this made a very special meal.Service: 5/5
We booked for a birthday meal in the restaurant but when we arrived we were in the pub with no forewarning or opportunity to cancel ahead of the evening. The menu was pub food, expensive and of poor quality. Steak was fatty and served with a garlic sauce that was so strong it was inedible. The pudding was an odd mix and looked like a breakfast. Would not return again as has really gone down hill. If you do go complain at the time if your experience is the same as ours.
We had a mid week break here for our 30th wedding anniversary, the room was immaculately clean all the essentials towels toiletries bath robes etc made you feel home from home. The breakfast was outstanding all of local produce unlimited tea and coffee. The bar was well stocked and its was lovely to have an afternoon drink in the lovely gardens. The evening meals in the restaurant were of very high standard not only in tase but presentation too. From the time of arrival to our departure we received excellent service from all members of staff very polite and very professional especially the girls Amma Lucy and Paris who waited on us throughout our meals and also the manager who was very accommodating. Well done Oaksmere looking forward to seeing you in the near future.
Loved staying here. Went for 1 night and ended up staying for 2. Such a peaceful, relaxing environment with beautiful rooms, excellent staff and fab food. Was perfect for the dogs too Rooms: Beautiful, massive bed, coffee/tea machine, lovely bathroom, excellent patio area to sit out on and let the dogs run around. Food & drinks: Really good food, some basic meals but cooked to a high standard. Bar area with lots of room, seating areas and can eat off either the bar or restaurant menus. Great selection of draft beers and also wine.
The food was good and the atmosphere unfortunately the service was very slow after the 3rd course and the coffee never appeared .The staff were obviously overstretched which is a pity as it was a pre booked Xmas day lunch £120.00per head.We have been to the Oaksmere.many times and this was quite a surprising situation but others there on the 25/12/2022had stated that they had experienced this before
Went for dinner and it was delightful. The restaurant had a good environment with an open kitchen, which wasn't noisy at all. The menu was excellent, I could have eaten everything. Also with local produce. The service was efficient and friendly. Prices were good considering quality of food. Will look to visit again when in the area.
Always a lovely setting, and good food. But still unfortunately poor service. Sat outside with no service so went in for drinks and asked for menus - they never arrived so went back in to ask again. 20 minutes later our order was taken and food arrived. We were trying to pay but unfortunately still poor service so the poor chef had to go and find someone! I politely asked that the 10% service charge was removed as we did most of the service ourselves, yet again.
