Story

Open since 1995, the simple cooking and warm, friendly atmosphere has allowed The Mustard Seed to become one of Inverness’s favourite restaurants. The Location on the banks of the River Ness in a converted church building is simply stunning and helps create the wonderful ambience.

The transformation from disused church to restaurant created a unique space; with a double-height ceiling and magnificent open log fire. Many of the original period features were retained and combined with a mix of natural and modern finishes. The addition of the terrace on the top floor allows alfresco dining and uninterrupted views of the River, another amazing asset for the restaurant.

Fantastic food and service at this restaurant when we went there for lunch. The service in fact was very quick! But not rushed. All three courses we had were delicious, the same with the wine, and the staff very friendly and helpful. Layout of the restaurant is very interesting with the two tiers of diners and the wood fire, all immaculately presented. We were able to walk in and lucky enough to get a table for lunch, but I think for dinner booking is advised. Highly recommended!
A really lovely restaurant with an early evening 3-course menu at an unbeatable price! We called in on a Friday evening to see if we could walk-in without a reservation and were kindly given a table for 30 mins later. The staff were so friendly and very attentive. The dishes were all great, fresh, and well balanced. We loved sitting upstairs and getting a good view of the entire space from our table. Will recommend to reserve ahead to other friends passing through Inverness!
A gem in Inverness, the food was impeccable and staff were delightful to ensure guests were enjoying themselves. Well recommended whether you're a local or a visitor, the menu at least the one I experienced had a variety of classic and modern dishes, elevated with high quality ingredients and talented chefs to provide an extremely delicious meal for any occasion. Very reasonable price for the obvious quality on offer, with a very pleasant venue as well to make for a lovely solo indulgence, date night, or group celebration.
A delicious euro dining experience! This was the first restaurant we walked by on our first day in Inverness and was unable to pop in because they were absolutely full. So we made a reservation for two days later and I’m so glad we got a spot! Every item was unique and delicious. The service was top notch. And they celebrated my mom’s birthday in a fun way! Overall, a place I would highly recommend — but make a reservation!
Amazing food - would definitely come back! We ordered the lamb shank a daily special and the venison and both were absolutely divine. We ordered some cocktails and whiskey and everything came quickly and was delicious. The service was very attentive and friendly.nThe value for what you get is good but a tad on the expensive side.nDefinitely book in advance!
