I was seeking Indian food my entire week in Scotland and finally found a place that hit the spot. The restaurant is nice, and clean a bit tight on seating, but not too bad. The food seemed fresh and well prepared - definitely full of flavor! The whole meal wasn’t too experience and the staff is very friendly, conversational, and there to help.
Wow. Some of the best curries we've had anywhere. Really friendly and prompt service from the guys running the restaurant, and on our trip to Inverness we went back for a second time. The Garlic Chilli dish was just the best we've had anywhere. All food was fresh and tasty. The staff were simply incredible and catered to our needs.Food: 5/5
I've been visiting the Rajah since I was a child in the early 90s - A curry was a Sunday night staple for my family during my childhood. We moved to Australia in 2006 and visiting the Rajah is a must every time we return to Inverness. In the ever changing world we live in, it is such a comfort to know that the Rajah has remained as wonderful as its ever been. Today's visit was no exception, we were treated to an excellent meal, just as incredible as I remember it being, with quick attentive service, for a very reasonable price. I've done a lot of travelling, but the Rajah's comfort and consistency, is why it remains my favourite restaurant.
Indian restaurant with non Indian vibes. There is no hospitality and the staff is tad bit arrogant. Food preparation is not very authentic. Tadka Dhall had burnt garlics in tadka which made it bitter, the balti gravy however was manageable. Overall a bit disappointing experience if you are expecting proper Indian food.Food: 3/5
The best Indian in town! We always come to the rajah when we fancy an Indian and it never disappoints, it’s delicious every single time! We love the coconut naan especially. The staff are so polite and friendly with quick service, we are always given a little chocolate and hot wipes before we leave which is lovely. We wish there was an option to add a tip on the card machine as we didn’t have money on us and would have liked to have given one. Will see you again soon!
I’ve got nothing bad to say about this restaurant. As someone who enjoys Indian food, this was one of the nicest I’ve had in my lifetime - tasty and freshly cooked. The restaurant itself, despite being in a basement, was well-lit with mirrors and didn’t feel at all claustrophobic - you actually forget you’re underground. The next time I’m in town, I’ll definitely be going here!!
I was up on a day trip with family and we decided for our birthday meal before the train back that we would visit this place, we passed it jist by luck but if your a restaurant in Inverness that’s lasted over 40 years then it must be worth a shot and it did not disappoint. We went at 4:30 so for that time the atmosphere wasn’t great but I can imagine this place to be busy and vibrant during peak times, The food was fast fresh and unreal, next time I’m back I will be going here again, the options for curries as well was huge, and Greta veggie options Vegetarian options: Anything that has meat can have veg Parking: City centre of Inverness has become a goldmine for parking wardens Hardly anywhere in the curry can be parked on without payment so the nearest city parking to here would be TK Maxx car park and walk down which is a couple mins walk Kid-friendliness: Friendly staff Wheelchair accessibility: No wheelchair access o don’t think as it was downstairs
**If you are a BROWN skin, do NOT bother going** Rajah, run by Bangladeshis, masquerading as an Indian restaurant, clearly caters and panders to the Western Audience. We were "politely" informed by the Waiter that as Indians, we would find the nearby Bayleaf more interesting, and that Rajah had a minimum spend which we would not be able to meet.
We were told this was the best Indian in Inverness. I found it meh. Our nan was burnt and the mashallah was way too sweet. But the service really annoyed me. They addressed my husband like I wasn’t there. I had to wave down help multiple times and really felt ignored. We went at 5 and there was no one else there so being busy wasn’t the reason.
The restaurant has a cosy atmosphere and a relaxing vibe. The meal was delicious and the chicken was really tender - the best we have had at an indian restaurant! The pints of Cobra were cold - highly reccomended!Food: 5/5
