the service was fantastic and the pub is lovely and historic. prices for drinks was decent, however only downside was the food. i ordered the lamb and mash and straight off the bat, the mash was cold and you could tell was just a microwaved pack. the lamb was tough, although pretty well seasoned. the vegetables were cold and obviously frozen and so in turn, were quite hard as if they hadn’t been cooked through all the way. on the upside, the apple crumble was lovely and hot. a nice way to end the afternoon. i think if you want to come here for food, keep what i’ve said in mind. the prices are a little steep for what you get, but overall we had a good time.
A stunning pub, so beautiful and old! The food is not cheap but totally worth it, we have tried starters, mains, Sunday roasts, desserts, they were all delicious! The service is personal but not overbearing, kudos to Erika for being a stellar professionalFood: 5/5
We have enjoyed a Sunday roast with all the trimmings. Both the roast chicken and roast beef were cooked to perfection, vegetables still crunchy, and the Yorkshire pudding and gravy it was to die for. We have finished it with a creme brule. The Italian waiter was helpful and very knowledgeable about the food and drinks. We will definitely go back. Vegetarian options: There are plenty of vegetarian options to choose from.
This is a great pub. It looks and feels exactly what you would expect an English pub to look like if you were an American tourist, except there don’t seem to be many tourists due to it being in Rotherhithe! I’ve been many times on both weekdays and weekends. The Roast beef and roast lamb on the Sunday lunch menu are perfectly tender and the gravy is rich and flavourful. I also thoroughly recommend the whitebait for a starter. The regular menu is also fantastic, especially the pork belly, mussels, and fish and chips. There’s nothing on it that I wouldn’t love to try! The service is attentive and the locals are friendly. You can book tables on the top floor or sit in a booth/table on the bottom floor as a walk in, but the terrace hanging over the Thames was an experience. Just remember to bring warm layers in the Winter!
After walking the Thames path from tower bridge to canary wharf I decided to have lunch at The Mayflower all I can say what a find. Service excellent, fantastic range of beers and WOW Sunday Lunch to die for. View of the Thames from the patio, a complete cosmopolitan crowd and a totally historic pub couldn't ask for more. Great value for money bookings advised but walk ins welcome.
Old world building and British pub off the path a bit but well worth the effort. Great food, beer and wait staff. We ate out the back, no reservations needed, where you can watch and hear the Thames while you eat. Can’t recommend enough Wheelchair accessibility: Old building so not really accessible to all parts of the pub
Love the interior of the pub - so much portraits and history. Vibe at the outdoor seating summer vibes and second floor cosy intimate were amazing in their own ways. Had their roasted sirloin Sunday roast - well roasted. Sticky toffee date pudding was a classic to end off the meal. Shoutout to their thick pint of Guinness - probably one of my best in London!
Amazing staff, you can even say fabulous. Food was awesome and on point... Scotch eggs were perfect. Great historical value as an American as parts of the disassembled mayflower were used to build part of the deck area. Worth the visit. The locals and staff are extremely nice and accommodating.Food: 5/5
Great historic pub with fantastic food and warm service. We had a memorable meal here, celebrating my mother’s birthday. Wonderful overall experience, and my lamb in particular was delectable. Chocolate tart was also fantastic.Food: 5/5
Now you know I am a fan of an out of the way quality pub but this one really does excel in every way. Discovered this gem of a pub whilst on a walk along the south side of the river and it doesn't disappoint. Lovely and dark and cosy inside but step outside and you can literally sit on the river and just watch the world go by. It was a bit damp on the day of our visit but I can only imagine how beautiful this would be when the sun is out. Great selection of local ales too.
