The Lowry

About

A spectacular waterside building housing theatres, galleries, restaurant, café/bars and gift shop.

Story

Situated on the waterside at the heart of The Quays, The Lowry is a stunning, award winning building housing two vibrant theatres, a studio space, relaxing art galleries, cafés, bars, a restaurant and souvenir gift shop.

With a huge variety of performances, The Lowry's Lyric and Quays Theatres offer a wealth of fabulous entertainment, including West End musicals, the very best in drama, live bands, famous comedians, plus world class dance and opera. From Peter Kay to the Kirov Ballet, Morrissey to Alan Bennett and much more, you'll find something to appeal to all tastes.

Gallery entry is free and you can enjoy the work of one of the nation's favourite artists, LS Lowry, in changing exhibitions of his work which we hope will offer some surprises. At the same time, experience work by artists of local, national and international renown to compliment our Lowry exhibitions. There's always something new and refreshing to see in our galleries.

With family fun throughout the building, guided tours, the Meet Mr Lowry film, plus participatory activity for all ages, The Lowry is a great day out.

Overall, The Elmer Adventure show lasted for around an hour, which was perfect for our little three year old to sit through. Both her and her nine year old brother loved every second, both failing to get restless, which was just what we wanted. It truly was the most perfect way to spend a morning!
The approach is impressive, makes you feel curious. Upon arrival we were met with friendly staff. Building is beautiful, the choices what to do too much for one visit. We went to see Sweeney Todd, thanks to Rick the Duty Manager.nEvery member of staff we met was friendly, smiled, was more than happy to chat if they had the time. They all were proud of the Lowry.nTo us, that's all down to what must be superb management.nIt was a great, memorable visit.
I really enjoyed the Lowry tbh we only went for his paintings which I thought was well displayed and loads of information about him and his life as well.nLooked a well set up theater and space little cafe and shopnShop was well stocked of little bits staff was very polite and helpful.
An excellent modern theatre with great sightlines to the stage. The building is a monument to the turn of the millennium - it's fantastic to see it untouched. The colours! The shapes! It's a throwback to a very specific moment in time!
Gorgeous venue. So different to how I remember it from visiting as a kid. The revamp looks amazing, everything feels fresh and clean. No sound issues. The bar is great and some seats even offer views of the quay. Drinks at the bar are a reasonable price and not too different from the other drink venues outside. Overall well worth a visit.
