You have to take this review in the context of how cheap the room is - it is extremely cheap. There will be 'better' places that I will give a lower rating to, but the Kings Arms makes modest promises and delivers on them excellently. My room was clean and my bed was comfortable. Due to the age of the building my room was a little cold in the morning but this had been accommodated for with a fan heater. The staff were outstanding and extremely friendly, the bar is pleasent and not expensive and the building itself is charming. Be aware that the pub can get a little loud so don't expect to get to sleep untill about midnight, but you are booking a room above a bar, so if you didn't expect this then you are a moron. All in all would highly recommend if you are passing though or in the area and need a cheap place to base yourself.

Best pub lunch in a long time. Just off the A30 we were not expecting such high quality food at reasonable prices with friendly service. Definitely worth a visit

Lovely food spoilt by amateurish presentation. Prawn cocktail not served with utensils or on a plate and no napkin. I was charged extra for a roll and butter. Main course excellent but the sweet lacked any finesse, again no napkin or wafer and no plate. Perhaps it was the b team on a Tuesday!

Typical local pub/b&b. Food and beer good. Service excellent. Manager, Tom extremely helpful. Building is 500 years old so looks a little tired in places. This is not a complaint, but explains why not five stars.

This was a great place to stay. Really friendly staff, very cheap plus I ended up with a massive and impressive breakfast :-)
