I had a great stay here. The staff were very friendly and helpful. My room was comfortable quiet. The only downside was the poor WiFi signal in the room. The grounds are beautiful and there are some very scenic walks in the area. Breakfast was high quality and offered a wide choice of options. I’d recommend this hotel if you’re looking for a nice break in Dartmoor.

The food and tea was wonderful, however the service left a lot to be desired. Myself and two friends had been for a walk on the Moors when the heavens opened, so we headed back for the car and hunted for somewhere to get a hot drink and some snacks. The reception we got upon arrival was awful - the lady quite obviously didn't want us there because we didn't 'fit in' and bundled us into a corner where we wouldn't be seen, where we had to ask her if we could have a pot of tea to which she grunted and shuffled away. We were then greeted by another lovely lady who asked if we'd been served and offered us menus. When the first lady brought the tea over to us she put it down and walked away without asking if there was anything else we needed. I went to find someone to order from shortly after and came across this lady again who seemed annoyed at having to take my order. When she then delivered our food, again she did not say anything or ask if we needed anything so we had to chase her down to ask for some sauces for our chips. The food was lovely, but this lady made us feel as if we weren't good enough to be here and this is enough for me and my friends to not want to come again.

Just ok friendly staff Food just passable had to send mine back as it was cold but they did have an issue with the oven in the kitchen The young lady on the table next to me had the same main course as me and she asked the question I should have asked Where are the vegetables? It was all a bit stewed too long Very disappointing I think the setting is so beautiful and the food today was well below par for the reviews I had read before going .

Peaceful, good food, rooms are taste fully decorated would recommend .
