The King William IV

About

A traditional victorian real ales pub, set just on the edge of Nottingham's town centre near the Motorpoint Arena.

Story

We're a friendly and completely independent ale pub just outside the town centre. No ties, no chain, just a family-run pub where we'll probably remember your drink on your second visit. We're that needy.

Expect!

- A fine selection of nine real ales. Oakham's Citra and Bishops Farewell are always on, along with a bunch of Nottingham's finest - Black Iris, Totally Brewed, Scribbler, Abstract Jungle, and Lincoln Green. Other favourite breweries you can expect to see are Shiny, Newby Wyke, Rat, and many others.

- Real cider - we've added to our lonely Old Rosie pump with a range of boxed ciders. Biddenden's, Gwynt Y Ddraig, Local Legends Blue Barrel, Abrahalls, and others.

- Four craft pumps, because that's what you do these days, isn't it?

- So many bar snacks. Fully trained crisp sommeliers on hand to make appropriate Kettle Chip pairings

- We're dog friendly, so long as your dog plays nice

- Pool table, darts and Sports TV.

- Function room

- Hidden roof garden that'll have you thinking you're in some kind of Babylonian god-knows-what

- Live folk music every Thursday night

Oh wow - what a fantastic pub, multi levelled and even has its own roof terrace. Terrific service of some of the more obscure cask ales. A really friendly pub with both chatty staff and customers. A pleasure to call in for a pint.
I only popped in for a quick pint but wished I could have stayed longer. A lovely traditional welcoming pub with a great selection of beers.Service: 5/5
I recommend this place. I was looking for Real Cider, and they had a great selection - something that is fairly rare, even for establishments claiming to.
Excellent pub about 15 minutes walk from Nottingham Railway Station. Eight cask beers on handpump when I visited including a stout plus a range of real ciders. Lots of outdoor seating upstairs some of it covered. The pub is known locally as the King Billy.
Amazing pub!! Great selection of cask and keg. Homemade sausage rolls. So many interesting decorations to take in in every nook and cranny. Must visit if you're in the area.Service: 5/5
We come here on a regular basis and have also booked the function room on multiple occasions. We like the pub itself but the staff have always been rude and unfortunately it is now to the point that we will not be returning. We went there the evening of Saturday 5 October and the bar staff were patronising, condescending, impatient, bitchy and passive aggressive. They were unpleasant to multiple people in our group on several different occasions and it was just a very strange and uncomfortable experience. We have spent a lot of money here over the years but the way they speak to customers is really poor. I will add that I have only ever had pleasant interactions with the landlord and this place has a lot going for it but unfortunately the staff particularly those on shift last Saturday have really let the place down and are putting regular customers off returning.
Proper good pub. A pub with a lively but friendly atmosphere and excellent beer. Independently owned and run and nicely rough around the edges. As I said, a proper pub.Service: 5/5
Lush pub, high quality toilet humour. A bit dear but decent with a pool table n all - DP Notts H.QFood: 4/5
Proper pub. Good selection of drinks. Excellent staff. Cosy chilled spot. Didn't get food but menu looks good - tex-mex. I could easily sit here for the dayService: 5/5
Community driven pub, with a selection of locally brewed ales, and an independent vegan kitchen up top open in the evenings. Staff are friendly, happy, and proud of where they work. Lots of artwork and thingamajigs on display, as well as posters for community events some hosted there. It's a progressive space with a nice traditional pub aesthetic. There's a decent sized beer garden on the roof, and a pool table in one of the upstairs rooms. If you like to meet new folk or have a chat with a stranger, the people are usually very friendly and welcoming, and it's easy to mingle in the beer garden. It's a great venue for a lively friday or saturday night, especially with good weather, but can equally lend itself to a quiet lowkey pint at other times.
