The House of St. Barnabus

About

We are more than just a members’ club. We support people back into lasting work, aiming to break the cycle of homelessness and social exclusion.

Story

Our Employment Academy is fully integrated with our social business.

We run a 12 week Employment Programme with a 360 approach, offering on-site work experience throughout our not-for-profit club and offices, accredited qualifications, skills training and personal development.

And this is just the beginning of the journey.

We work with Employer Partners to create employment pathways for participants. Trained voluntary mentors support our graduates on their journey to independence, offering guidance and advice for at least a year after the programme ends. Our Academy team provide ongoing support to graduates to ensure that they reach their aspirations and are able to thrive.

Mission

We believe that working together we can break the cycle of homelessness.

A unique place with interesting artworks. It is full of characters. I enjoyed the function that was hosted there. The downsides were a brief power cut, canopies did not cater for different diet requirements and also ran out non-alcoholic drinks.
Located in the heart of Soho, the House, founded in 1846, has always been run as a charity to help those who have experienced homelessness. The Grade I listed building functioned as a hostel for women until 2006. The not-for-profit members' club opened in October 2013. Their aim is to help people to break their cycle of homelessness, by providing the support and training they need to find lasting paid employment. Attended a private party here a few days ago and the weather was still warm enough for people to use the yard. A beautiful space to enjoy and, most importantly, all staff participants in the Employment Preparation Programme were both charming and professional throughout. A charity that makes a lasting difference; definitely worth supporting.
I am so gutted for the building & the team that this is no longer open as a members club. The building is so lovely inside and it was always glorious to see all the rooms being used and for the building to have life in it. This was such a lovely venue to have as a members club with an ethical/charitable stance. I really liked that aspect of what my membership was helping to fund.
I went a to record label showcase here and had an amazing time, this is such a cool venue. As I walked from room to room I could not help but be in awe of the architecture and decoration, the lobby, bar area and church areas equally contrasted and complemented each other. Musical performances in churches are always a treat as the architecture is visually intrguing and enhances the acoustics in a unique way. I recommend seeing any band here!
HoSB is always a great vibe and the feel of a house party with the best djs. Patrick Forge was brilliant and you should never miss Johnny Reckless. There's also a garden to relax in Tickets are usually free or make a donation for charity.
I've been a member here for a couple of years now. The building is beautiful and the staff are incredibly friendly and attentive. They make great cocktails and a small but good wine selection. The food has improved massively over the last year as well. The people who come here are unpretentious and it doesn't feel "stuffy". You don't have lots of people taking selfies etc so it's quite relaxed rather than showy. The fact that it is also a social enterprise, so you know your money is supporting a good cause rather than making some PE firm richer is amazing.
Utterly unethical. Happily took my money yesterday to join as a member and closed down less than 24hrs later and wont respond to requests for a refund. Never even set foot inside the club. Should have been upfront and/or issue an immediate refund. Scammers and fraudsters.
Brilliantly smart private club/charity venue. Had a lovely meeting in one of the great rooms. Warm and cozy atmosphere with an eclectic decor throughout. Enjoyed the soy latte thoroughly and can't wait to be invited back. Highly recommended.
Really nice place for business or casual meetings. Dinners here are great. Staff all very friendly and the atmosphere is well balanced.
I had the pleasure of meeting the Rt Hon. Dave Katz esq for lunch where we decided to create our own tasting menu that consisted of 4 main courses and 4 g and T's. We were served by the lovely and efficient Kelsie who accommodated our gluttonous endeavour, albeit slightly perturbed by the vast quantity of food that was consumed. The food is decent and around the right price. If you visit here make sure you donate a tenner at the desk as it is a great cause. Much love and thanks to all the staff. Hello Dave, you're my wife now!
