We stayed for Burnham Market International Horse Trials. Spacious and comfortable room, well furnished and clean. The food was excellent, well presented, and with plenty of choice. A special mention must go to the staff, everyone we encountered was, by some margin, the most friendly and helpful team that I have met. We were made to feel like old friends who had come to stay. Would not hesitate to recommend this place to friends and family.

Interior was modern / countryside and nice enough, but the staff were pretty clueless when I visited. I asked if I could take a jug of water to my table, as there were several jugs lined up, and I was being polite, but it seemed to fluster the member of staff and they started to make a very simple request unnecessarily awkward. Also the bar staff seem to have no awareness of who is next, which is annoying when you're ignored, and sign of poor training.

We stayed at the Hoste in New Years Eve and we were horrified but the shocking service we were provided. We could not check into our room until 3pm and the spa closes at four. The spa was also shut the following day so throughout our stay we could not use it at all. This was not made clear when they took £250 for a room which was the same spec as a travel lodge other than the fancy bed which constantly made noise with the slightest of movement - such as breathing. The mattress was like wood. The moment we entered the room which was in the ‘Vine House’ we had established it was daylight robbery. The plumbing was horrendously noisy and we had a maintenance man in the room with us for the first 40 minutes attempting to fix the TV. The staff were ignorant and showed no remorse. Because we didn’t include ourselves in their rob off New Years Party when we entered the bar for a drink we were treated very much like outsiders in what seemed a very pretentious environment. All in all it was £250 for a room where you could do absolutely nothing unless you made use of the facilities in the Hoste which were shut at this time. The breakfast which was included consisted of toast or cereal, if you want cooked food you have to pay extra. It totally took the shine off going away for New Years and I would highly recommend going somewhere better for half the price.

Stayed over the 13th-15th April weekend- stayed here around 5 years ago and it was much better then. Rooms are good size and clean, nice style but the bar and restaurant are getting dated - service ok But you expect more for the money and not as good as it used to be.

Very enjoyable stay at the Hoste towards the end of January. The room was spacious and comfortable and the bar was cosy with an open fire. Staff were polite and helpful, will return again.
