The Holly Bar, Restaurant & Rooms

I have never been disappointed and I highly recommend this place to people who understand the fresh and home made food! For the other people on the other hand call in on the chippy down the road! The staff are lovely and always welcoming and happy to help and the prices are reasonable too! Lovely place and lovely too!

Now an Italian restaurant???? We didn't notice the signs so were expecting the usual great pub food. However once inside we did notice the change and even thought about leaving. But we were to hungry to find another spot so we stuck it out in a fairly empty restaurant and I'm glad we did. The food was amazing the young man serving us was very attentive and the prices fairly reasonable.

The worst meal I didn't even finish. We have been to the holly bar a number of times in the past and have enjoyed the Sunday lunches. On our return from a cold walk from hawes we thought we would pop into the hollys for a nice warm sunday lunch expecting it to be as good as the previous visits. We just couldnt believe what we was given. There where roast potatoes uncooked which tasted like plastic. There was a small table spoon of smash the veg tasted very weird and the Yorkshire was a packet from frozen one. The meat had way to much fat. Basically i would of got a better lunch if it was a back street cafe lunch off blackpool prom. For £2.95. Hollys were charging £10.95 for this c&%p honestly I have never tasted anything as bad in all my life. The waiter was very forgiving he couldn't of apologised enough. However a tip would be sorry have the drinks on the house. Instead of charging £12.80 for 2 half pints of Pepsi and 2 half pints of orange cordial and soda. And a kids chicken strips and chips. That's another thing the chicken strips looked like they came from an already cooked Iceland bag. There was no side salad no beans no nothing. We will never be going to this place ever again and I would advise anyone else against it. The Italian food might be good but they can't cook a simple tradtional Sunday lunch so I wouldn't hold my hopes up.

i used to love eating here months ago! i ordered the sunday dinner here last week which made wetherspoons look Mitchelin star! the sunday dinner was £10,95 which was over priced for beef fat. frozen yorkie. 2 green beans and two slices of carrot. i cant be certain but the mash tastied like smash (came out cold), my young daughter ordered a childrens meal which was chicken strips meal. this was manky looking chicken strips which looked like they had been pulled out of a cheap frozen bag from Asda and the meal came with no side! no beans or corn or peas or salad. just dry chicken and dry chips. how this could be served to a child is disgusting. i had to give her the carrots off my plate. we left our food and went to the chip shop down the road which was fresh and delicious.

Tasty food portions a bit small pleasant staff with a no rush approach all in all a nice place
