"Everyone who walks into The Highwayman in Oswestry gets a warm welcome. Workmen and suits rub shoulders at the bar. Locals trade banter over pints of real ale. Those travelling further afield stop off to refuel and find they’re spoilt for choice when they open our food menu. Whole families reunite round the dinner table. Busy couples love steak night. Old friends catch up over lunch, and groups of mates get together for Friday night drinks.Coming with the kids? Good stuff! They’ll have a ball running around the children’s play area. Came here this evening for a family meal. Didn't book a table and it seemed busy but they fit the four of us in at a table. A lady called Caroline sat us at the table. Was so polite and kind and jolly. I ordered at the bar as I had a blue light discount card. Had a good discount. I had the chicken burger with chips and it was really nice. Meals came out in good time. I can't fault our waitress Caroline, it's just so refreshing to have someone who seems happy in their job. I seen her serve other tables and she was just as Jolly. A good meal and great service. Will be back again
Overall we enjoyed our meal here last night in this Marston pub and restaurant. Staff helpful and attentive. A good menu selection for vegetarians plus good portion size. The food was tasty and reasonably priced. However a table chair with arms would have been helpful to my disabled, elderly father. Annoyingly, a fly kept circling our table and trying to land in our food.
Very welcoming staff, top service throughout the evening. Lovely food with come back prices. If you're in the area, highly recommended
Nice bit of tucker, very efficient service and reasonably priced to boot. 10/10 for doing 'proper' onion rings, real rings of onion in batter not chopped and shaped onion slime!
Exterior doesn't fill with confidence, bit run-down looking. However the interior is nicely laid out and welcoming. Staff are friendly and helpful. Very wide menu, with good gluten free options, however many items are bought in ready to heat so I keep to choosing food that has to be prepared in house. Broadly good value and pleasant venue.
Highly recommend! We went for a Sunday roast and had a lovely meal, comfortable seating and the staff were friendly and helpful. We were told we could order using the QR code online but found this difficult so placed our order at the bar; which the staff were happy for us to do. The restaurant was incredibly busy at the time we went so there was a bit of a wait for the meals but they were well worth the wait, and large portions. The puddings were delicious too and everything was fairly priced. Overall we had a great afternoon and we’ve already chosen what we’ll be having on our next visit
All the staff are very polite. Hard working and nothing is too much to ask for help. The entertainment. For the older generations is a god send as they have no where to go without transport available to them. So this is a day out for them. It’s a shame other pubs do not have the same opportunities for other OAPS. My be this is the reason for this pub to have a lovely atmosphere and attracts younger and older people to get together. Good job to the manager and all the staff that work here. Fantastic job. Well done.
Had a pleasant meal new years eve, 3 of us chose the ultimate Southern fried chicken burger and were not disappointed. Will definitely have this again if it's still on the menu next time. Decent price for a decent burger! Fast and professional service! Could not fault at all.
Excellent Sunday roast Came with the family for dinner before going to watch the fireworks. All four of us had a Sunday roast and it was beautiful. It was all very tasty, very hot and great portions. Great service from Ffion she’s always happy and great with all the customers. Highly recommend you try their roasts we will be returning again soon
We popped into The Highwayman for tea, Martyn greeted us at the bar & showed us to a table, without us booking. The children played in the park & did some colouring whilst their food was cooking and Gareth checked on us. Our food was delicious, good value & the staff were attentive. We will be back!
