superb Sunday lunch. staff really friendly and found us a table. Food really top notch, so much so was tempted to have dessert....sticky toffee pudding to die for. good thing we can go walk it off on the beach! great atmosphere and a roaring fire. Will definitely be back.
First class. Hospitality at its best. The initial welcome was great, immediately recognised from when I’d popped in earlier to make the reservation. Even though we were nearly an hour early we were shown straight to our table upstairs. Bowls of water and dog treats for our two dogs appeared almost immediately. Our waitress was fantastic, knowledgeable about the menu, friendly, efficient engaging, patient especially with my mother in law who has Alzheimer’s and polite. The menu was good, traditional English pub food done well with good quality ingredients. I had ham hock terrine with piccalilli and sourdough, beef and ox cheek pie and a really good cheeseboard. The Youngs beer was well kept, the wine list relatively short but well balanced and well priced. The space, decor and views of the sea were all beautiful. Not cheap but very good value, I highly recommend.
Friendly and helpful staff help to make this place worthy of its 5 stars. Stopped here for a quick bite to eat while visiting Exmouth. Nice outside space with plenty of seating indoors and out. Good choice of food, wine and beers. We ordered Devon crab sandwich with a side of chips. Food came out really quick, chips were lovely and hot and the crab was good. Nothing fancy but tasty and fresh. Would definitely recommend.
Salmon with orange,fennel and sliced apple was fab, the fish pie was also good. Adding a splash of white wine to the sauce would have improved it Staff were good but kept the conversation to a minimum, a bit scripted. Would visit again though.
We came the grove for a roast we booked before hand we were bit put off afterwards after reading reviews and was close to cancelling booking. But so glad we never as it was amazing home cooked food. kids ate everything on plate and we all got deserts very friendly homely atmosphere definitely would come back five stars from us thank you
A wonderful, welcoming atmosphere with a roaring fire. Just the thing on a chilly afternoon. The staff were all friendly and helpful and the food was superb. Really good choice of wines as well.
Pleasant pub by the seafront. Nice outside seating area. Food was served hot and tasted quite good even if my lamb was a bit dry. A bit of some kind of sauce would have been nice. Desserts were great. Staff friendly and helpful. Would go back if in the area again.
A lovely place at any time of the year. I had a sandwich which was delicious and quite big. Nice selection of food and drinks. Absolutely awesome location.
Nicely decorated pub, tinges of The Ivy.We had a Ploughman's sharing platter.Too much for us to eat but a member of staff kindly wrapped what we could not eat,to take home .A Young's pub with a good range of beers
We had a lovely table with an excellent view. The Sunday roast was very good and my dad commented that there was plenty of meat. I had the plaice which unfortunately was disappointing, very small fish with hardly any meat and black bits in the potatoes..The desert however was also very good. So a bit of a mixed review and it feels with a little attention to detail it would have been 5 stars.
