About

The Greyhound Inn - The most photographed pub in Britain

Story

The Greyhound Corfe Castle, is nestled in the heart of the Isle of Purbeck between Swanage and Lulworth Cove on the Jurassic Coastal path. The pub is easily reached via the Swanage Steam Railway or the Sandbanks Car ferry to Studland Bay.

The main access route by car is via Wareham or via the Weymouth road. Numerous cycle paths, mountain biking tracks or rambling routes lead you to the heart of the Isle of Purbeck, Corfe Castle.

The Greyhound is a family friendly traditional old English Country pub specialising in fresh local food, real ales and traditional ciders.

We are passionate about food and our numerous food and ale festivals are tribute to this.

Take a look at our festival page to see what we mean

We source local and make it focal

The original Purbeck Stone building is a eclectic mix and old and new, the building dates back to fifteenth century and is steeped in history. Boasting solid oak and purbeck stones floors, modern leather and teak chairs and wonderful visual art by well known photographers and artists.

An ideal location for anyone out and about in Jurassic country - cyclists , dog owners, families , ramblers, day trippers or b@b guests, the large outdoor garden is perfect for a sundowner, people watch or to simply watch the steam train.

We cater for large parties/ group bookings, the only venue to offer take aways in Corfe Castle and children's parties. The large garden is suitable for mountain bikes, muddy rambler boots, pets and garden area for children to have fun.

Surrounded by four camp sites, Burnbake, Norden Farm, Woody Hyde and Woodlands (caravan club ), the pub garden provides campers with a chilled out relaxed atmosphere to sample real ales on tap or try some freshly made great value pub food.

The pub is open all year round; with children and pets most very welcome.

We do hope that you find our website useful in exploring The isle of Purbeck- a magnificently beautiful secret in the west country.

If you can join us, my team and I, will always be available to make your time spent with us well worth repeating.

I visited The Greyhound Inn for Sunday lunch. I was pleasantly surprised by the warm welcoming staff and delicious food. There was clearly a lot of effort put into the presentation of our food which was brought to us promptly. I really enjoyed the roast beef and the root veg that it come out with! For a desert I ordered the Chocolate Torte, this was fantastic! Overall my welcoming, friendly, attentive experience at The Greyhound was memorable one and worth every penny. Thank you to all of the staff who served me on this Sunday.

Food was ok, but the staff seemed more interested in themselves and their regular customers than us. Maybe that is to be expected, but it was a decidedly uncomfortable experience, and one we won't be bothering to have again.
