Story

For over a century, we at The Genoa Café have continually produced quality food at the highest standard by implementing traditional methods in our preperation processes. We have only ever used the healthier option of vegetable oils in the cooking of our fresh Battered Cod and Fresh cut chips. We will endevour to continue our ethos of producing award winning foods and ice-cream and we hope you enjoy your experience at The Genoa Café.

A family run proper Fish and Chips place where everyone has a smile for you. Best chips around this area. Great selection of burgers, fish, sausages, sandwiches, wraps available and a large selection of ice cream sold within this chippy.
Greeted by a friendly girl on the counter and shown to a table. Pleasantly surprised by how nice it was inside. I ordered scampi and my partner ordered fish and chips. Both arrived fairly quickly and nicely presented. The scampi was delicious with a good sized portion of chips and my hubby was equally happy with his dish. Good value for money.
This place used to have the reputation for great fish, but I fear that has long gone. Ordered a fish and chip and was presented with what they said was haddock but was about the same thickness as a flat fish. The fillet was redicously small, and it lacked any flavour. To b fair the chips were good, but with a price tag of 16 pounds, it was a dear plate of chips. Will I return.... definitely not.
The Fish and Chips are fantastic!nnStopped here while looking for some fish and chips to take out. Well set up during COVID: a very genial staff member greeted us at the front door and enquired whether we wanted to carry out food, buy from the ice cream bar or sit in. After stating that we were after carry out food, she ensured I was wearing a mask and directed me to one of the ordering hatches inside. Another efficient staff member then took my order. Effective plexiglass screen at the ordering area that was easy to communicate through. We then waited outside while our order appeared to be cooked fresh.nnPlenty of complimentary condiments, cutlery and napkins offered and a robust bag to carry it out. Ate it at the harbour, which is very beautiful and only a 2 minute walk.nnQuality of the fish and chips were above average. Not too greasy or fatty. Batter was just right and fish seemed to be of high quality. Chips were great.nnNot too expensive; I've definitely paid more for inferior fish suppers.nnRecommended if you're in Warrenpoint!
