Fabulous old pub with low ceiling and wooden inside. Open fire place which makes it warm and inviting on a cold winter's day. Great for summer too as there is outdoor seating to soak up the Sun while slowly drinking ale. Try the olives and bread as a starter with a glass of wine and you will not be disappointed. Not a easy pub to get to and I suppose that is an advantage and thankfully not a television to be found inside which means it football free which is just out of this World.

Wife and I dined at the gate last night, on a whole is was experience, slightly ruined by children playing whilst we were dining, I thought it was a bit off for 9,30 pm Sat evening. As for the food we had soup of the day, Tomato and basil with ciabata bread. This was very nice hot and tasty. For our main my wife had lasagne which she really enjoyed, I had fish and chips, which came with mushy peas, which I dont like, the fish was very poor, too thin, nearly all batter. Best avoided. The meal was cheap, but fish and chips best avoided. Overall nice place comfy warm and welcoming.

Friendly staff. Good menu however some meals not available. Food was very good on this occasion
