Not as high end as it used to be for dinner, the French Hen is now more of a budget option, but that's not really a bad thing - the food is good value for money, the service is on par for pub food and the drink options are pretty extensive. My steak was overcooked, but it was a tough cut, so it wouldn't have made much of a difference if it was medium rare like I asked. The prawn cornets were more prawns with a bit of smoked salmon on them than what you'd get for that optons elsewhere. But for the price it's very reasonable. The pudding was excellent.

Have enjoyed a few beers here. Small selection of good local ales. Nice internal decor. Sometimes has a music act on. Haven't tried food. Nice spot

Quaint yet large establishment. Staff always friendly and a good variety of choice on both the lunchtime and evening bar menus. The restaurant is also an excellent place to eat. Very relaxing atmosphere. Would recommend anyone to visit.

Smells and aromas... 3 members of staff sitting at end of the bar talking while nobody was serving and the tables were filthy with glasses everywhere. Girlfriend had to clear the table herself. We were going to have lunch here but there was the notorious “dirty mop” smell coming from the bar area. Had two sips of my overpriced flat lager and left. Bar staff still chatting to regulars (one who smelled like he’d soiled himself) on end of bar when we left. Shame, as place has gone a bit rough lately.

We visited for drinks and food. The beer (3 cask ales available) and wine were great; the food was delicious, well presented and well portioned. I love the atmosphere and the friendliness of the staff. It can be quite busy sometimes, so booking a table is recommended. Decor is predictably French themed and tasteful.
