The Flying Horse

Fantastic pub. Loved it and will definitely come again. We had a Sunday roast and it was freshly made and delicious. I had the roast beef. One of the best pieces of meat I ever had. The service was very attentive. Unfortunately they ran out of pork for my husband's platter but came ahead of serving the food and offered replacements. Which was great and very considerate. All in all a great evening.

I have been going to the Flying Horse the last year or so and I have always had a great experience. However after tonight’s experience I won’t be returning! I booked a table for 10 people to celebrate a special occasion and it turned into a nightmare! The funny thing is prior booking the table some of the people said that they have heard bad reviews and I wanted to prove that wasn’t the case. After tonight’s dining experience they were proved right to what they have heard. The level of customer service was one of the worst I ever experienced. There was no attention to detail, the service was extremely slow, orders were forgotten and food that was ordered from the menu didn’t arrive as described. I ordered the butternut squash and sweet potato tart and I received a mixed vegetable tart instead - inside the tart there was one whole shallot which was not in the ingredients described in the menu. It felt that they run out of the original ingredients and filled it with whatever was available from the pantry. When I highlighted this to the waitress there was no apology and she said it was a chunky vegetables tart (!). When the manager was informed again the level of service was poor and he offered me some side vegetables as an apology. As a result no further food was ordered from the menu due to the lack of confidence of what was available. Food was deducted from our bill but we then realised we got charged for extra items we did not receive! The overall service was extremely poor. I will not be returning and I have already cancelled my next booking. It is a shame because I thought highly of the restaurant but this latest experience has left a sour taste in my mouth.

We booked late and were found a table. Staff were busy but very helpful and kind to my disabled parents Food was excellent. Can't fault it. Been here a few times and it's always been good.

Great gastro pub on A6 just south of Bedford and north of Luton. Great menu choices and attentive and knowledgeable staff. Prices reasonable too! Please they serve all afternoon.

Good food and service. Made a reservation for Sunday roast. My partner and I enjoyed it. Brownie with ice cream was the perfect end to our visit!
