Phil & Clare Hale look forward to welcoming you to their freehouse in the heart of Bedfordshire.
With our small team, including Head Chef Darren, we pride ourselves on doing things simply but properly - from sourcing top quality ingredients for our kitchen to great wines (with more than 25 available by the glass), local B&T Bitter and premium lagers/cider in our bar.

Disappointing experience - this used to be a great place to eat out in, with unbelievable steaks .. it seems to have changed owners since I last went, and unfortunately the food was nowhere near as nice - the olive oil with bread had a very bitter taste to it (we sent it back as it was inedible), the chips were cooked to a crisp in dirty oil so had a unpleasant taste to them, the steak was ok but nothing special. The manager then argued that we should still pay for the bread and olive oil as the bread had nothing wrong with it..! So unfortunately a really poor experience and we won’t be going back there again...

The food, Sunday lunch on this occasion, was decent pub grub but wasn't the same standard we had experienced before the change of management.

I have visited here a few times, the food and service is always great. There always seems to be new additions to he menu. Ample parking.

Lovely village pub. Great food, excellent service. Great marquee for functions. Cosy bar, really friendly staff. Nothing seems to be too much trouble for them. 10/10
