Bangkok Lounge Shefford

Having owned a very successful Thai restaurant myself the first thing I did was find a Thai chef who could cook Thai food. Quite simple really, ah. After that nothing else really mattered because the food was the best. After all that's what you go to a Thai restaurant for. The Bangkok Lounge however has got things the other way round. Sure its a lovely looking restaurant with good staff but the food is simply not Thai. It is some kind of bland spiceless creation that is more akin to what I might put together at home with some spices that I've found at the back of the cupboard. I would be pleased knocking up something close to Thai but it simply isn't. That's you will get here. It's not Thai. No more Thai than I am. Now, I might be treading on thin ice but the chef I saw was not from Thailand. Hmm, can you really cook authentic Thai if you have not lived it? I suspect that here is the problem. I also suspect that the spices and ingredients are brought to reflect cost rather than what they bring to the dish. Naughty really, I know the tricks but eventually you will get found out. So, to sum up. If you are looking for an expensive imitation Thai experience then you've got to try here because they do it very well but if you want to eat Thai then try somewhere else.

Dinner last night. Food fabulous, manager so friendly and helpful. Staff as nice as you can get. First visit and will not be the last. Looking forward to next time already.

Have been here several times and always have a lovely meal. Staff are very attentive and the food is always tasty.

Very nice thai food i have ever eat in this restaurant. Their fresh food and services is wonderful. I would highly recommended for all and i will be back again. Very Pleased
