Lovely old pub in between the city centre and University. Has a shabby chic aesthetic that makes it feel as though it has had little work done since it was a student haunt in the 80s, but it doesn't need changing or updating. Always friendly bar staff and a varied selection of beers, including from as far afield as Wylam brewery and DEYA. Pool table and jukebox available in one of the side rooms though not during the Otley Run and beer garden/yard can be found out the back.
It's been a long time since I've seen an egg in a bag in a pub - how I miss Stoke. Well the Fenton has them, it also has zubrovka and apple juice which I have had for 20 years but I highly recommend, think Apple Charlotte in a glass. The pub is fantastic with original Victorian panelling, loads of atmosphere and a decent range of beers and ales on tap. Yes it's scruffy, you probably wouldn't take your nan there, but for a pint with a mate it's great.
Decent pub with a good beer garden out back. Has a great range of craft ciders on offer. Significantly more than any other pub in the area and a nice chilled out bit of music playing in the background. Would definitely come again just for the pineapple and oink grapefruit cider.
TO GET 5 STARS FROM ME HASNT HAPPENED YET SO 4 IS AS GOOD AS I GO...always keep something back.lol. UNPLANNED SPUR OF THE MOMENT NIGHT OUT... First timer. Quiz night. Nice place. Good atmosphere. Decent selection of drinks served by nice, polite, efficient staff...WILL DEFINITELY ENDURE THE BUS RIDE TO GO AGAIN!!! Quick response from owner...NICE TOUCH M8...4.5 for the extra yard.lol.
Friendly classic and unchanged boozer. The addition of food is brilliant - tasty, comes quick and with great vegetarian options. Good beer array especially the £3 Fenton own!
It is one of the few places where I can come with my dog and eat in peace.Food: 5/5
Good pub, but someone's fartedService: 5/5
A nice pub with a good atmosphere and reasonably priced food and drink. There is a cozy atmosphere and a nice event room upstairs.
Only stopped in for a pint and a chat. Not too crowded, great low key atmosphere, an open mile night when I was there but there was a back room that was quieter.Atmosphere: 5/5
Really nice pub and staff. Only issue is was given plastic cups when I was there with my boyfriend for a quiet drink and weren't there for the gig or part of a pestilential Otley Run. Just wanted a quiet drink in a decent pint glass. Still love the place though! Service: 5/5
