We had a very good Sunday lunch here, having never been here before. Great atmosphere in the pub that has comfy sofas and armchairs next to the log burner as well as plenty of dining tables. Well kept beer and food that couldn't be faulted. Looking forward to visiting again.
Arrived at the hotel much later than anticipated, missing the restaurant. All was not lost, as the host Mark? was kind enough to rustle-up a very welcome cheeseburger with fries when I eventually got there- perfect! Room was pleasant and immaculately clean. Staff were exemplary throughout, especially Rachel who prepared a delicious breakfast for me before departure. A proper 'Home from Home'!
First visit to the pub last night.... what a superb pub. The staff/owners were so welcoming and friendly. Lovely relaxed atmosphere and lovely location. The food was superb. Everything really fresh and beautiful presented. Dog friendly and the owners little sausage dog called Sausage was hularious. Will be visiting again.
Very lovely welcome, went with 2 year old and they had high chair ready at the table which a lot of places surprisingly don’t, crayons and little book on the table which was lovely, great play area in garden and friendly staff. Unfortunately Sunday roast not great, very tough over cooked beef, basic veg, overcooked yorkshires. Lovely potatoes though! Had chocolate brownie for pudding, definitely not brownie it was dry cake and cold. Disappointing food wise but all around a lovely place to go.
This is a wonderful place, stayed in November overnight for my husband's birthday. Lovely rooms, fabulous food, the staff are just wonderful, the decor and comfort is excellent. Really good breakfast too, even gluten-free for me! Thanks so much Mark and team, see you again February 11th as we are going to do it all again xxx
Such a cute pub! We were staying at a nearby Airbnb and they recommended the pub food. We made a reservation which was definitely needed! We enjoyed the leek and potato soup stater as well as the pork tenderloin and Aubergine dinners. The pork tenderloin had a ridiculously delicious mustard sauce and the most amazing dauphinoise potatoes! The aubergine and pumpkin Millefeule had a nice tomato based sauce. I knocked a star because personally the soup could have used much more seasoning.
Had a wonderful stay at the Crown. People were so friendly and the food was excellent. The room was cosy and well furnished. Would certainly recommend to anyone.
Sadly disappointing Booked a table for lunch on a Friday Only people eating, so cold we had to keep our coat's on, Scampi and chips was simply Scampi and chips! had expected pea's! Ploughman's lunch at £13.00 was disappointing, the bread certainly wasn't fresh that day and had to ask for butter. To cap it all when we looked at the receipt a day or two later we had been charged for drinks we didn't have, refund was given without quibble.
We stayed at the Crown Sat 7th Jan as per a recommendation from a local friend. Double Room for the night with breakfast £72 which is very reasonable. Staff were super friendly and helpful on arrival and showed us to our room. Some wiring issue seemed to be with the stairs as can be seen from the clip. We went for dinner with friends at 7-30 and that went really well. No photos from the evening as we were with friends. 4 people with drinks £200. The double bed was not as comfortable as I had hoped. Two single mattresses put together. I personally don't like this and I didn't have a great night's sleep. I understand that there are not too many rooms, and they have to be flexible, but that's my opinion. I prefer a double mattress, not two singles pushed together. The room was otherwise fine. Good shower with free toiletries provided. Breakfast was full English which was good, but we were not asked or given a choice on the eggs poached, scrambled, fried etc. The staff were attentive. Sausage the dog was a massive hit though - so in conclusion I would say this was good vfm at £72 for a Saturday night stay for 2 with breakfast. One star off for the two single mattresses situation.
Lovely place to have a few drinks. Cosy and busy enough to create a nice atmosphere. Bit more expensive than other places locally for drinks.
