Amazing local pub with a great food and wide range of locally made drinks Harry's Cider Rhubarb an absolute gem. Very helpful and accommodating owners found space to feed and welcome a large group of 12 people and 3 dogs on a short notice despite being really busy!. Everyone in the age diverse group 12 - 50 had something to do If in the area whole heartedly recommend stopping by
I used to drink here about 15 years ago when I lived in the area. Pleased to report it hasn't changed a bit. The perfect pub.
Called in for Sunday pub lunch, as on holiday locally. Nice choice of draft ales and ciders, had cider, local brew, Harry's. Recommended. Staff very polite and helpful. Free tastes of cider to help you choose. Fish platter was different and tasty. Scampi good too. Beef dinner little disappointing as beef bit chewy. Nice puddings. Reasonably priced with good service. Well behaved dogs welcomed too, inside and outside pub.
One of the most welcoming pubs I have visited. A pub that I am sure relies on its outside space, but being the middle of winter and the limited space inside, it was very, very busy, to add to the pain, we had a dog but they did their utmost to cater to us all. Some great food, a great selection of Ales, and many friendly faces
The perfect pub. Amazing ales and cider, with a really knowledgeable staff. The food was incredible. Good Somerset pub grub with a wide selection. I will be heading back here very soon
We visited on Saturday evening as a party of 9, we've been to the Halfway houses on a number of occasions and have always found it to be a fantastic venue with excellent food. I am given to understand that the venue might be under new management, if it is, then it's great to see that the food is just as awesome as before. My wife had the steak and mushroom pie, it had a thin shortcrust pastry top and was filled with large chunks of steak and the gravy which she let me dunk a chip into took me back to my school days, it was delicious. I only had a bowl of chips and a bowl of beans as I had eaten earlier, otherwise, I would have had the scampi as you might expect if you follow these reviews. I would have posted pictures but frankly, the food was gone too soon. In terms of facilities, there is a couple of steep steps down to the main entrance but I believe there is step-free access to the side, there is also a disabled parking space right outside, next to the large casks. The toilets might be disabled-friendly if you are in a wheelchair, I won't lie it's going to be a tad snug, especially if there is someone standing at the facilities, engaged in the removal of bodily fluids... We will obviously be going back, the Halfway house is ideally suited to meeting with family as it is halfway between our houses, plus the quality of food is just mwah...insert chef-kiss emoji.
Cracking little pub, a real pub. Friendly staff, good menu, brilliant selections of real ale and proper farmhouse ciders. Good sized beer garden. 100% recommended. Now owned by previous tenants. As always, great service, can't recommend enough. Menu updated and not just normal pub grub but a good selection.
Beer good. Fish and chips lovely. Faggots not good. Fish cakes dreadful. Staff friendly and nice. May not eat there again .quality of food has declined. .
Great local pub, great beer and food. Service excellent.
I've just seen my previous review of this pub, and somehow the review listed was what I had written about somewhere else. I apologise profusely for this, as it was unintended and undeserved apologies to the staff and owners! I've eaten here several times recently, and the food is good, the staff are great and the prices very reasonable in the current climate. Do go and try it.
