I recently dined at The Don in Welwyn Garden City, and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. The restaurant offers a warm and inviting ambiance, perfect for a relaxing evening out. The service was exceptional; the staff were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. To start, we enjoyed an appetizer of papadoms and sundries, which were fresh and flavorful, providing a perfect balance of crunch and taste. For the main course, I opted for the jalfrezi with pilau rice. The dish was a delightful explosion of flavors, with just the right amount of heat and spice. The vegetables were cooked to perfection, and the pilau rice complemented the dish beautifully. My wife chose the chicken korma, and she was thoroughly impressed. The korma was subtly spiced, rich, and creamy, with tender pieces of chicken that melted in the mouth. It was a perfect choice for someone who enjoys milder dishes. Overall, our experience at The Don was fantastic. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was pleasant, and the service was impeccable. We will definitely be returning and highly recommend it to anyone looking for an excellent Indian dining experience in Welwyn Garden City.
Came for a birthday meal there was 10 of us and we expected some delays on food but we waited an hour and half just for our starters, although the restaurant was empty they were prioritising takeaways and saw many of those come and go, the service was one of the worst I have had in a restaurant for a long time, the gentleman Serving us was rude and abrupt was seeing to our table with a phone to his ear so perhaps why he was so abrupt but I found it really rude, the food itself was good but when you wait so long for it you expect it too be warm and the starters were tepid at most. If you wait a lengthy amount of time and receive high quality you can except it a little more but we all agreed the food although it wasn’t bad it really wasn’t very good either. I have been here before and had a good experience and will refrain from going back
I've only ever had a takeaway from here and always very happy. But actually went and had dinner in and was really happy. The food is great. The service was good. Beautiful decor. And although it was very late, the guys there looked after us and made sure we were taken care of.Food: 5/5
Amazing food tonight , lamb Balti was out of this world. Coupled with such perfect service made for an excellent meal with my partner. Thank you @ all staff at the Don :Food: 5/5
The reason for my lower rating is due to the fact that none of the staff had on masks to protect others, and when a table left, they did not sanitize it at all before seating a new group. The food was not bad, the waiters were polite and friendly and we had good service. As someone who wanted to help them out as a business, but was conscious of the fact that there are guidelines that restaurants should be following to prevent the spread of Covid-19, I feel like more should have been done to ensure the safety of the guests and staff.
The food was amazing! As a Belgian we don’t really have Indian places so this was a first for me and I will definitely be trying it whenever I can. Than you for the great introduction to Indian food!Food: 5/5

Arrived at 7.00pm, had to ask for a drink at 7.15. Food orders were not taken until 7.50pm and the food arrived at 8.35pm. They kept seating people who turned up without booking, so the restaurant was packed, with those people who shouted loudest being served first. The waiters were so busy they never looked across to see if they could serve you with more drinks etc as they were so busy trying to cope. Food was reasonably good but the service was not. Will definitely not return.
Very nice restaurant and very clean. Food was delicious and good portion sizes. There are better out there within wgc but I would definitely be going again.
Ordered for collection. Food was amazing! I mentioned mint sauce over the phone and they gave us extra. Would recommend this place 100%!Food: 5/5
