And their daughter Amelie maintains front of house.Our aim is for you to visit and enjoy our newly decorated establishment and leave feeling happy and satisfied.We are a small venue , so advance booking is highly recommended ."

I couldn’t recommend this little gem of a tea room enough I held a suprise 70th birthday for my lovely friend here and I have been to a number of afternoon teas but this little place was outstanding the food was amazing the amount was breathtaking The owner Lorraine well just such a lovely lady so helpful and Amerly who served us was just amazing fantastic little team So I will definitely be returning all my friends couldn’t praise the service the food and price enough So thank you Lorraine for such a perfect afternoon we will be back
Oh my goodness; what a find. We went here for a special afternoon tea for Father’s Day. As a vegan I’m used to being an afterthought. But not here. Not only fresh sandwiches but mini pastries etc all for vegans. The vegetarians had similarly high quality food. The scones were lovely but oh my word what amazing cakes. 5 each and the vegan had 5 cakes too and not a fruit kebab in sight! If you are a vegan you know!!!. The afternoon tea was topped off by fresh fruit for all. They even allowed my son to have two hot chocolates with cream in the afternoon deal. Unheard of. The vegan cherry cake was to die for by the way! We’ve been to many places for afternoon tea, but for quality, price and choice it’s rivalling the Ritz. Thanks for the warm welcome and service, three very happy vegetarians and a vegan, who is also extremely stuffed lying on the sofa! Dietary restrictions: Vegan and vegetarian both well catered for.

Very tasty food my husband and I enjoyed for a special anniversary two course afternoon tea was delicious. Mine was vegetarian. We had to take a box home as we couldn't finish it all! Such good value!
Came to a ballet matinee performance at the theatre on 25th May and, being a fan of Chas Rennie Mackintosh took the opportunity to visit No 78. We were far from disappointed. The lunch was excellent and staff very courteous and efficient. Gorgeous Egg Benedict and Salmon and avocado....delicious. thank you.Food: 5/5
Wow! We had the pleasure of attending my friends Baby Shower in a beautiful room at The Dining Room yesterday, the table and room was set out so beautifully, we added a few decorations too, the afternoon tea food was out of this world, and my Vegan food was so delicious! The room did get a little bit stuffy, as the windows can’t be opened due to past security issues, so having the door keep opening was refreshing. All of the staff were so accommodating and friendly and helpful, all of my friends had a great time. Thank you.
My first time visiting here for afternoon tea and I was so impressed with the service and food here! There was a lovely selection of drinks and sweet and savoury goodies, and all tasted delicious. Thanks to the amazing staff for also adding a surprise for my birthday and bringing out a cake and candle, was such a lovely gesture. Definitely recommend this place and I can’t wait to visit again! x
Have eaten here three times since the new management took over. Lorraine and her daughter do a magnificent job. Tasty food friendly service and value for money in a great setting.

The Dining Room is the wonderful restaurant inside 78 Derngate. Serving excellent food and wonderful afternoon tea, book before you turn up so as not to be disappointed. A tour around number 78 is also recommended, the house designed by Charles Renne Mackintosh for Basset Lowke.
