From what has been a great local pub to what is now a shambles and barring (no pun intended) locals of 20 years for speaking the truth of what has happened. No beers for days on end, untrained staff doing the best they can in impossible situations. Avoid until the pub group that owns the place has someone with the place’s best interests at heart...

I am trying to be fair about my rating for the hotel as some things were good and some things appalling. Bed large and comfy, shower hot and powerful, location good. The whole hotel and certainly the room I was in was very tired and dated. Not sure how anyone can rate this as Wifi good as only about one place in the hotel you can get it and that's reception, certainly not in your room, which as a business traveller is a pain. Food was fine and not expensive. They clearly have staffing issues, both from my observations and from what I could over hear being discussed rather loudly! Bill was wrong when I checked out and a week later I'm still waiting for a correct copy to be sent to me via email or post!! Not sure I'd go back again.

Sadly, the Devonport hotel is up for sale and is suffering a little through staff cuts and a lack of interest. A new owner with vision could make it a wonderful place again.

Lovely location by the river where our boys collected hundreds of conkers. Pleasant inside but a bit unprepared for lunchtime opening. Food was nice and a fair price, but a bit too buttery for me.
