Great old style hotel. A little worn in places as a result, but good location and good value for money compared to anything really modern. Despite being on lake, unlikely to get any real lake view as set back and also because of trees. Excellent sell catering apartments available here in block behind main hotel building. Again perhaps a little worn and dated, but great value for money as a result.

We called in for a drink and sat in the conservatory overlooking the lovely garden. Our well behaved dog was allowed which was great for us. A short walk to the lake was pleasant. People sitting by us ordered food which looked good. Staff were very pleasant.

During our stay the associated bar area was having some renovation work done. But, this did not detract from the good service. The hotel accommodation itself offers self catering facilities in a spacious apartment. The decor is a quirky mismatch between sleek bathroom and retirement home comfort elsewhere. It is a great place to stop at for it's immediate access to the lake and surrounds.

Loved our stay here at The Lakes. Very friendly staff, clean rooms, loved the shower! Felt a shame we only stayed one night and got caught in the beast from the east. Breakfast was nice, could offer more fruit though. Would stay again, could possibly update decor.

Only one night here. On a coach trip. First time they'd had a coach? Had an early start but breakfast was not ready. Nice enough room. Lift small & claustrophic. Again not used to dealing with multiple guests arriving at the same time. Restaurant was very cold.
