Highfield Hotel & Restaurant

About

Our award winning hotel and restaurant is in a remarkable location in the English Lake District. You'll feel like you are in a country house hotel but you're in the heart of Keswick.

Story

The grand Victorian villa was built in 1885 using slate quarried in the Borrowdale Valley. It is beautifully proportioned and has many original features for you to enjoy.

We'd love you to join us and admire the magnificent views from every window, either looking down across the lake or up at the might mountains.

We're within a few minutes walk of the town centre and the Theatre by the Lake. We're also perfectly placed to be your base for mountain adventures in the Northern Lakes.

Relax and take in one of the finest views in England. You don't need to worry about parking because we've got a large private car park for you to use. And you'll enjoy the fresh air as the house is strictly no smoking.

We've got 18 warm and welcoming en-suite rooms that have been designed and furnished to make the most of their unique features.

Our bedrooms offer you the chance to sit in a turret, relax on a veranda or gaze from a balcony!

All our rooms have views of either the lake or the mountains. They're all en-suite, have a flat screen television and dvd player, ipod docking station, wifi, a radio alarm clock, direct dial telephone and tea and coffee making facilities.

We're proud to have two AA Rosettes for Culinary Excellence.

I'd like to break down the review into 2 parts. Firstly the accommodation itself including breakfast and the stay. Very good on both. Great rooms and staff. Really cosy and welcoming. Great location as well. 5 stars. Restaurant itself was not as great. Food was just ok and nothing really you couldn't get in a pub. Let down in some basics with the medium steak being cooked well done and the lamb not having its fat rendered down at all. Sticky toffee pudding desert was delicious though. 3 stars.

Excellent place to stay with stunning views over Derwent Water one side and Skiddaw the other. Our room was clean, warm and well furnished. The staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome. Breakfast had lots of choice both cooked and cold. Cannot recommend enough.

I have stayed at the Highfield once before two years ago so it was the obvious choice when looking for somewhere to stay in Keswick. It really is a beautiful hotel, the staff very helpful and professional, food great and the breakfast all you can eat. Great location overlooking Hope Park with a private car park and only a few minutes walk from the town centre. The views from the hotel are stunning. A great place to stay in every way. Really good value for money. I would highly highly recommend the Highfield to anyone looking for stay in Keswick.

This is a great place. Its biggest selling point is its really excellent restaurant, which not only has a really nice menu but also, on request, will serve earlier for those visiting the nearby Theatre by the Lake. Good choice of wines and excellent customer service from the staff at all times of day. Easy walking distance to the centre of Keswick. We had one of the attic rooms which was very cozy/comfortable. Couple of small issues with a shower temperature control and a rather weak flush on the loo. Geussing the water is pumped up to that level. The Lounge is lovely and the views of Derwentwater are amazing. The food easily beat everything else available in the vicinity.
