Booked a table for 4 people. Arrived to be told there was no booking, however they could sit us. Having seen the lamb we decided that’s what we wanted. But when ordering, we were advised it was sold out. Friends arrived a few hours later and ordered the lamb? When we asked why we were told it was sold out, we were told the lamb was reserved for “booked parties, not walk ins”. The manager apologised and gave us two free apple pies. Still annoyed by the whole experience. Their error on the booking but we got a “restricted menu” as a result. If the waitress hadn’t lied and just told the truth, we could’ve explained and ordered what we wanted.

Food was nice but nothing special. Music in Restaurant was too loud and ambient. It was like eating in a disco! Staff friendly. But service slow. Creme brulee was too expensive for what was served. It should have been hot and served with a plus. The wine was average, but a Chablis from Asda is better and more rewarding. Don't sit but French doors as freezing by end of meal. Too expensive for what they offer. Finer dining and prices deserve finer wine, ambient surroundings and a few individual touches.

Nice enough local pub . friendly barman but only one working so took while to get served. Bog standard food ie scampi and chips ,pie and chips all OK.

My wife and I visited the Crown last week for dinner; having been a few times last year. In the past, the food was quite good but the Service was amateurish. Well, not any more ! The new front of house manager , Antonio, is an energetic, entertaining and sincerely friendly professional. He keeps the show running with a keen eye for detail. He has given the wine list a makeover and we followed his recommendation which was an excellent. Chef is raising the standards of the food to new heights. He made an appearance at dessert time to chat with customers and explain his ideas and hopes for the future of this gastro pub. Prices are very competitive; our total was under £75 for food and drinks. As a local, I will be back soon and I feel so lucky to have this fine establishment on my doorstep.

Really enjoyedit. Really good food. Good choice on the menu. Good place to go in the day. Friendly staff.
