I want to thank the staff at The Cock for an absolutely fabulous night . Had my Husband's 60th Birthday there. Darren the Manager, Staff Martina & Joe could not have been more helpful with setting up and looking after us all evening. Food for all 30 of us was really fabulous I highly recommend. Thanks also to Jon and Carl could not have been any better was perfect. Thanks Laraine

One of the best Hotels ever, Very friendly staff and great Landlord John. Very comfortable rooms especially the beds. Loads of hot water as we like a bath. Food fantastic good choices. Would strongly recommend a stay here. Been few times. As we have friends down here.

An old hotel / bar that caters for guests staying at the hotel and those seeking to unwind after a hard day's work. Can get extremely busy when there is a wedding reception (which seem very cheap looking at the hotel's advertising). Decent food and polite and friendly bar staff.

There was nothing really wrong with this place, but they could quite easily make more of an effort with cleanliness. Having said that, the staff were very friendly. The only real issue I had was when the manager accosted me in the dining room at breakfast, in front of other guests, and demanded that I settle my outstanding bar bill, only to realise that he had the wrong room number. The breakfast was good, the staff are friendly and the locals are pleasant (one gave me a shot of his homemade gin). There are some issues, but no more than you'd find at any other busy hotel.

Being local I only visit for a drink and meal. I am not going there for meals now as the standard has been declining over recent months. I went in this Monday (26 March) at 10.40 for an after theatre drink as I have done many times in the past. I was refused service and told the bar was closed although the barperson (maid) was leaning on the bar chatting to a person I later learned was the Manager. There were a few other drinkers also in. I have always known closing time at this place for non hotel residents as 11 pm weekdays. i reminded them of this but they stared at me blankly!! This is a further example of declining service. I went across the road to The Whitehorse where I received a warm friendly welcome and it continued to serve drinks until 11.45.
