Very much enjoyed our stay at the Crown. The only negative was the room was very hot and even after turning the radiators down there wasn't a chance of sleeping much as the duvet was very hot too! It depends what you like I suppose and my husband and I prefer a cooler bed. The staff were all very pleasant and couldn't fault the service. A lovely location right on the High Street and a short stroll to the seafront. Great choice!
Had the immense pleasure of spending an evening in the pub to catch up on some emails while away on a work trip. Enjoyed a few lovely local pints from the brewery across the road Komond & an Ease Up along with some banging cheesy chips. Staff in particular Jo were super friendly, the place is a treat and I'm so glad I stopped by. Deserves more than it's 3 star rating - top work.
Really enjoyed our Sunday Lunch here today. The roast lamb and roast beef were so tender and there was a great selection of vegetables. The Adnams bitter was also very well kept. Very cosy dining room with comfortable chairs and no crowding at all with the tables. Staff were friendly and very efficient. A bonus for those not keen on our canine friends is that dogs are not allowed in the hotel.
Lovely Sunday 3 course lunch, greeted by friendly staff, given our usual table for two in the green room. Time for a aperitif in the back bar before lunch. Excellent service.Service: 5/5
Very nice meal for our group of 12. Very good ambience and service by friendly staff. Only negatives 1. Not enough space to hang coats 2. Two of our party ordered a tofu starter which was very unpleasant to eat. I tried a piece and wished that I hadn’t !!Service: 5/5
Really good place. Celebrated my Dad's 80th birthday at The Crown. Excellent food service and very friendly staff. Highly recommended Rooms: Big room and comfy
Enjoyed an extremely comfortable, tasty and pleasant night’s stay at The Crown. Our room was spacious - the bed was huge and snuggly, shower piping hot with perfect water pressure and there was a great writing desk near the window overlooking the high street. Decor was really pretty throughout. We had a three-course meal at the Crown on Friday night: lovely wine, soup, aubergine and polenta and beautiful puddings - and the breakfast menu was extensive with huge, delicious portions. Menu had fishy, meaty, veggie and vegan options for every meal. Ample parking including an EV charger, great little touches in the room complimentary Adnam’s beer and crisps and service was so professional and kind throughout. The seagulls are squawky and the building creaks a little but I wouldn’t hesitate to return if I visited Southwold again.
Gave a couple ahead of us a table and then said there wasn’t one for us because we had children with us, probably because we had 2 young well behaved children with us, despite it being a very large, almost empty restaurant. I had eaten here before with my dad and we were so disappointed.
A great experience staying at the Crown. Rooms are really clean and comfortable with some lovely extras in your room. We ate breakfast and evening meal both were superb, great quality and very accommodating for my fussy guests. The weekend was superb, a true Adnams experience. Well done to the whole team at the Crown, great service, very professional and really accommodating. Will definitely visit again.
Went there for lunch on a Friday. Interesting menu, a bit pricey for the size of portion served. Service good. Decor and comfort good. Nearby activities: All you would expect from a quiet seaside holiday location. Beach, pier, shops, cinema, theatre, plenty of places to stay, eat and lovely walks. Walkability: Right in the town centre but with easy access to sea, river and countryside. Food & drinks: Pub and restaurant facilities are well staffed, clean and welcoming.
