A nice pub. We had friendly service and the prices were alright. The food was nice. A nice stop in to get out of the sun. It was busy for lunch.
Great food and excellent service. I had the steak burger and wife had the fresh cod. Both meals were tasty and freshly made.
Lovely pub lunch, fish & chips& scampi & chips. Great value for money & much nicer than the ‘posh’ pub up the road.
A friendly live pub good selection of beers dog friendly, people friendly. We were staying at rookery farm cl site so really was just around the corner. This is a community run pub and you can see the amount of effort they have put into it. Highly recommend this place.
We popped in for lunch, ordered the veggie burger and fish pie. Fish pie was nice, although only contained some whitefish, salmon and a bit of dill. Was a little bit bland, and I thought it was expensive for what you get at £16. It came with seasonal veggies, which were dried out looking carrots and some chewy kale. Partner had veggie burger which looked good, chips were chunky and came with salad. It’s a shame the fire doesn’t get lit. The service was good.
Nice restaurant area behind the main bar. Fairly traditional no frills pub serving a small menu of favourites - well cooked and tasty. Onion rings are superb!
Not faulting effort made but currently not reaching the heights of other pubs in town. Still a good standard & usually quieter but still popular with day tippers. Adnams ales available OK but nothing more
Busy pub at lunch time on a weekend in Southwold. The lady serving the tables was really helpful. We had a great fish and chips which will stay impressed in my visiting family for quite some time. Highly recommended
Excellent food and service. It was ages since I last visited this establishment but will not wait so long again. Definitely the best place I've been to in a long time.
Four of us ended up at the Red Lion for lunch as all of the cafes in Southwold were packed. We only wanted a light lunch so ordered a sausage roll and pasty from the bar with a side of chips, while my parents shared the spring roll starter and a side salad. The food was very nice, but service was a little slow and sloppy; the waitress didn’t know if the cheeseboard came with crackers, and our pasty and sausage roll came out when we’d almost finished our chips. It was pretty good value at £10 a head including drinks.
