We stumbled across this place whilst visiting family in the area. It's family friendly, the food was great and reasonably priced. The lady Behind the bar gave us a very warm welcome, and even came over to say goodbye at the end of her shift. Would definitely recommend stopping here.
Very enjoyable experience here every time... the Carvery's are amazing on a Sunday and normally served until about 4 p.m. and sometimes having venison as an option. Food is served all day everyday with a great menu. Great size car park. Enclosed play area for your children. Very friendly staff. Music every last Wednesday of the month from about 9pm I think Food themes menu of the world every Wednesday "I loved the American night they did" I would recommend this place for food, drinks and a very enjoyable drink outside in the summer!!!
In am probably being generous with two stars. I like this place and have been going there to eat several times in a year. Not been for over 12 months and was a little surprised with the condition of the seating that had lost it's colour and was very badly stained with the odd hole in it. Next to us there was a chair in use that had a broken back. Food ordered and wait, it was not too long before starters were deposited which was of reasonable standard then a long wait for main course. With an apology for the delay they were a little busy my problem with that is the place was half empty. The food we ordered was a disappointment but it was mostly ate as we were hungry by then. I ordered a vegetable korma and it was not, the sauce was wrong and it was a bit of spinach with chopped onion and mushroom. The Naan was over cooked and brick like on the bottom, so it goes on, disappointing. There was a longer wait for a few ice creams for desert, I did notice we were not alone in this and some customers were missed altogether. I did bring this up with staff and got oh we are sorry but we are busy. I left it not wanting and to tired to have the debate. I so wish it could be a better review as it was one of my favourite places with a good environment and excellent pub food it is no longer on my list which saddens me.
Very happy and helpful staff. The carvery was spot on. And as for dessert..... very nice. We will definately be visiting again. Very child friendly. Recommend to anyone looking for a family event. Birthday, reception, or juts a family get together. Kids park is ample, clean and we'll kept too. Can't recommend it enough
We had a lovely meal this evening. The service was warm and friendly and the food, cooked to order, was excellent. A nice kids play area and plenty of grass at rear for kicking a ball kept our lad busy. A good find and we will certainly revisit.
Called into the restaurant this evening about 17.15 and although most tables were reserved for the evening rush the front of house waitress kindly accommodated our party 4 The restaurant was fairly busy also including a large children's party at the rear. It was evident that the waitress was on her own as she was manning every table and children's party as well as the bar. However she took out eating order quickly and whilst we awaited dinner we watched her rushing, often running, all over the restaurant. Clearly the restaurant had shift planning issues but we had to admire her professionalism and cool head in front of the customers and work ethic. Our dinners arrived in a reasonable time and were excellent. 5 star. We settled out bill and left a healthy gratuity which I trust goes to this first star representative of your team.
Always get a good welcome here, food is well cooked, fairly priced, I had the mixed grill last night, ordered medium and that's what I got. My friend had the chops and said it was some of the best food he'd had for ages... If you don't fancy eating in bar/lounge area, there's a restaurant area too..
Called in for a meal on the way home from Bude on the off chance, im glad we did as the food was lovely, the atmosphere was great and the service was second to none. All the staff we dealt with were first class, and a thank you has to go to young Olly who we were dealing with mostly. We will certainly be going back there and would certainly recommend it
I enjoyed a ribeye steak meal. I did have a minor issue with the meal, which I raised with staff a time of payment. I was very satisfied with the young lady concerned, she insisted in giving me a substantial discount even though I made it plain that I was NOT complaining. I was happy with the taste & texture of the meal. In my opinion you too can enjoy fine food in comfortable conditions here. I would recommend The Countryman Inn as a good food venue. I should point out that whilst there is plenty of easy access parking there are approximately six steps to negotiate to the entrance, which would make it less than ideal for an unaccompanied wheelchair user. That said there may be an alternative entrance of which I am currently unaware. Therefore if you need wheelchair access I would just ring them to check first.
Breakfast was lovely , family room was very spacious. Unfortunately, we were kept awake by the noise, arguing and swearing from downstairs at 2-3 am. Quite upsetting when the staff had been lovely and attentive. Let themselves down.
