Story

The Castle Inn has eleven en-suite bedrooms, all tastefully furnished using sumptuous fabrics along with a calming colour palette, and each unique in character. Whether staying for business or pleasure, guests are guaranteed a unique experience to rest and relax in style and comfort. From a lazy soak in a luxurious bath enjoying rich fluffy towels and robes, to keeping in touch via in-room wi-fi, the facilities ideally complement the tranquility of the ancient village.

The Castle Inn offers a selection of dining options. The Bar is the hub with open fire, warm atmosphere and table service, offering traditional bar meals during the day, along with the à la carte menu in the evening. For a more intimate experience The Oak Room provides the perfect setting. The Terrace Patio provides al fresco dining for those fine days. For private dining and special occasions The Oak Room is available, comfortably seating 14 guests and featuring its own lounge area. For larger parties The Conservatory can seat 32 guests.

Really lovely place and excellent food - once you get it. Unfortunately we had to wait ages and I had to chase up the table being cleared - we also go the wrong food at one point. However, I have given it four stars due to fabulous atmosphere and really friendly staff who are clearly run off their feet at busy periods and trying hard to please the customers.

Just poor service which is such a shame when everything else is so lovely. The setting, the general ambience is relaxing and elegant but despite a seemingly quiet lunchtime service we had to ask for drinks to be served after a long wait, ask to order our food, had to chase around to find someone to request the bill and then queue to pay. As one of my party has just messaged ' I don't think I'll be in a hurry to return'. It's a local for me which makes this all the more disappointing.

Excellent food in a cosy pub. On a cold rainy night it's great to sit by the roaring fireplace early hearty well made food. The whole experience is added to by the friendliness of the staff

Stopped in here for a lunchtime drink on boxing day. Very friendly and welcoming hosts. Good drinks and snacks with a real log fire. Popular place for lunch and was busy by 12. Overall a great place to eat and drink.

We were a large group for a family members birthday and the experience was shocking. So the rabbit terrine starter had bones in, the roast beef was massively over cooked and very dry, then the lemon tart desert pastry was completely raw with the tart cream split. When these individual things mentioned to the staff absolutely zero sincerity or apologies, no offers to amend. The waiting staff were rude and showed no attention to detail, didn’t once ask anyone “how is your meal” “would you like any drinks” etc. Now it’s a real shame as I’ve been here before when there was a different manager in place, and the experience was fantastic, but this time round with the new manager in place, it was horrendous. And the worst thing was there was a chef sat next to me who agreed on every aspect of what was said and sent his food back also, which says a lot. Poor performance for such a well renowned eatery, won’t go back any time soon
