A Family member decided to meet here for a family meal for his 2 year olds birthday. The table was pre booked for 11 people. When we arrived the initial appearance of the place was slightly worrying, then we entered the building to find there was only 2 other people in the pub, drinking only.. However as many had travelled we decided to stay and eat here as planned.nOnce everybody had arrived we asked for menus only to be told they didn't have any and that the food options were written on black boards near the bar..nBy 5.30pm we had placed our orders.nWe were still the only people ordering food in the restaurant.nAt 6.45 the food has still not arrived, the waitress comes out and then says they have no corn on the cob which was ordered as part of the children's meals.n5 minutes later the children's meals finally arrive!nThey asked for ketchup and mayo, only to be told they had run out, but the landlord was going to pop to local shop to get some. Finally the rest of the food started to appear from the kitchen..nThe pork chop was 90% fat,nThe 'Salad' was a handful of wilted lettuce only,nThe baked beans were cold, hard and almost white in colour.!nMyself and one other had orderedn'Flame Grilled' Chicken burger with blue cheese..nThese were the last plates to leave the kitchen after waiting nearly 90 minutes in an empty restaurant..nWhat we received was an oven cooked chicken breast in a soggy bun.nThe outside of the chicken had gone hard, once I had bitten into it I realised it was pink raw in the middle!! As was the other burger ordered.nAfter showing the waitress she spoke to the manager who kindly told us we would not be charged for the burgers!!nnInstead of the manager approaching our table and apologising for the wait, the poor service and awful food, he put all of the pressure on the young lady that was running front of house alone..nShe seemed very embarrassed, upset and flustered after our time at the restaurant. We felt very sorry for the girl.nVery unprofessional from the management..nnSo in Short.nnScruffy initial appearance.nDated, dirty interior.nLack of drinks and condiments.nRidiculous waiting times.nDisgusting , overpriced food.nVery very poor management..nnAVOID !!!
So glad we found this place, country pub vibes with a cosy fire, kind and welcoming staff and absolutely fantastic home cooked food! Picture attached is of the macaroni cheese and garlic bread I had, it was incredible, gutted we live so far away so we can’t make this pub our new regular! It also has an impressive beer garden so would also be great to visit in the summer. Highly recommend
Laid on a lovely funeral tea for us. Great buffet, very helpful with the planning and organisation. Would definitely recommend.
What could be a lovely Family Pub ruined by a Beer Garden littered with dog excrement. The issue has been raised with both the Landlords and Staff all to no avail. The previous Landlady actually created a specific fenced off area for dogs and their owners however this has fallen into disuse. As a place to go in the Summer it's best avoided until it can clean up its act!
This was the best one and friendly staff as well great food as well we had seven people family
