Romantic Dinner for 2 whilst on short break staying near Thirsk. Carlton signposted from A19. The inn has a great cosy atmosphere and the food is superb, delicious and well presented - best creme bulee I've had for years! my wife had the special (duck) and I had smoked chicken and bacon caesar salad. both excellent. The reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the service was polite but slow and indifferent. This is a good restaurant with a gifted chef, definately not some little country pub punching above its weight. perhaps the chef should take all the staff for a day out to Whitby to cheer them up! defo recommend you try this place.

Would like to review but as we arrived 3 minutes before closing they wouldnt serve us. No wonder pubs are closing

Friendly attentive staff. Menu adapts to customer's requirements. Plenty of parking. Old village pub with better than average menu and service and toilet facilities

Lovely views, decor and food! My reason for not giving 5 stars is the staff. Whilst they were attentive they could do with cracking a smile and being a bit more friendly. Would defiantly come back for the food!
