Story

Our colourful and relaxing Italian restaurant, bar and hotel is situated within the beautiful, quaint village of Sowerby, a 10 minute walk from Thirsk, North Yorkshire. We serve authentic and delicious Italian food including a selection of pastas, pizzas, meat and fish special dishes and we can also be hired for private events. Our hotel rooms are fully refurbished and feature fabulous interiors in our old farmhouse buildings. My daughters and I really enjoyed our meal here. The staff were friendly and very welcoming. The girls loved watching their pizza cooking in the wood fired pizza oven, it's an experience I'm sure they'll always remember. Our pizzas were delicious and very filling. The children's pizzas were almost as large as the adults. We couldn't finish them but we were offered the opportunity to take the remains home with us in a pizza box without us having to ask. The meal ended up being very affordable, we'll definitely be back if we're ever in the area again.

This was the second visit to Fantinos,we were greeted like old friends and made to feel very welcome indeed. The rooms were very clean and comfortable and had added extras like tea coffee and biscuits (As per last visit) We took dogs with us and they were wecomed too, they were allowed in the bar but not in the restaurant (which we though was fair enough.) All the staff were friendly and efficient and the meal we had on the Friday night was lovely. Highly recommended ,we will be returning. Thirsk is a lovely town to wander round and we visited Richmond too.

Fantinos is one of those little gems that feels more of an experience as it is just a meal. We booked earlier the same day (Saturday) and were accommodated at 8.15pm. We were greeted and were duly sat at a small bar area, drinks were served and menus provided. A short wait after choosing our meals and we were taken to our table. The food Lasagne and Vegetarian pizza followed and was good. Our pizza cooled extremely quickly and we asked for this to be reheated - this was done without fuss and a few minutes later we were back on track. Dessert was good but nothing overly special, small effort in this area could improve after all dessert is the big finale and what most people remember and talk to others about. Overall a lovely couple of hours were enjoyed by us both in very pleasant surroundings.

Lovely venue. Great service. Small Sunday/New Year's Eve menu (unless you want pizza). Pizza was delicious. No BBQ sauce (big disappointment for me... Gotta have BBQ sauce).

Excellent Italian dinner. They were very busy but service was still fast and the staff were friendly and efficient. Very good value as well.
