This hotel is a lovely setting but the service is abysmal. Our family have been for Boxing day lunch for the past few years but wont be going again. Yesterday there was 18 of us , meal was ok but nobody asked during the meal if things were ok? The waiting staff were all youngsters but seemed if none had any training. When the coffees were brought they were nearly cold by the time milk/cream had arrived. My sister asked for another cup and still waiting. Also staff were moving tables around as if they couldn't get home quick enough. Terrible service
Just to be clear, it's the Bull Hotel parking entrance that I'm rating here - not the Bull Hotel itself, which has much to commend it. I took care to look up the car parking arrangements on the hotel website before leaving home. That helpfully I thought gave an address and postcode, which I entered into the sat nav. Upon arrival, however, I couldn't see anything resembling a hotel car park. I rang the number of the hotel as given on the booking confirmation email only to discover, after much talking at cross purposes, that I was talking to someone at a sister hotel in Bradford! When I eventually found the number for the Bull Hotel I was given an alternative postcode to try but that was no use either; nor were the directions as given by the receptionist! I ended up getting out of the car and walking towards the hotel and then I discovered the car park entrance - just a few yards, but a five minute drive, from where we were, thanks to some bollards part-way down Fitzwilliam Street. The car park needs to be approached from The Broadway NOT Park Street which was what I had done. Turn right into Fitzwilliam Street after the Central Library and then immediately left through the arch leading into the car park behind the hotel. On the plus side, there's ample parking, and it's free!
Car park a mare to find hotel is dated for the price, hardly any drinks behind bar as well.
Not bad but hard to pay for the parking. Had to go all the way to the reception for pay
Quite a bit of litter around the car park and huge puddle in the middle so had to walk the long way round to enter hotel.
Not the easiest car park in which to manoeuvre when it's busy. It would help if the bays were marked out more clearly.
